I am a 48 year old journalist and author who live near Copenhagen with my wife Maya and my seven year old daughter Esther. I am talkative, have a keen eye for the great story and have a lot of humour - even when the subjects are serious. As a guide I have great knowledge of the chosen subjects and a lot of experience in making you feel comfortable, smart and entertained. I have written a couple of books - one about cemeteries and one about second world war - and have given hundreds of lectures and tours. I offer tours on historical subjects with an eye for the telling details without missing the great picture. My subjects right now is: - Death and drama in Copenhagen, a collection of stories about dramatic events througout history and how they shaped the city and the nation. - The Nazi occupation, where I tell about the German invasion and the five years that followed - from the resque of the Danish jews, the resistance movement and the politicians who worked to keep Denmark save and to the Danish nazi, the German terror and the victims of the oppression. - Assistens Cemetery, a cemetery that is also a park and resting place for Hans Christian Andersen, Niels Bohr, Søren Kierkegaard and a lot of other famous and lesser known Danes. - Bispebjerg Cemetery - the German occupation and second world war as told through the graves on the cemetery. - Dragør - a small sailing village close to Copenhagen, known for it's beautiful yellow houses, which are on the Danish UNESCO tentative list. - Store Magleby and the Dutch. A walking tour of my new hometown 10 kilometres from Copenhagen. The history of Store Magleby is unique - it was founded by Dutch settlers 500 years ago, and their influence is still visible in the area. All my tours can of cause be customized, and if you are interested in another historical subject, just ask! I look forward to showing you my great city! I am a trained journalist who mainly works with history and have been guiding for about seven years. I am very experienced in giving lectures all over Denmark. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver at your expense. However, Copenhagen, Dragør and Store Magleby are best experienced by foot.

The German army was at it strongest when it invaded Denmark in april 1940. It only took a few hours for Denmark to surrender and begin a political cooperation with the German civil and military administration. The following five years were some of the most dramatic in the history of Denmark. I am a history journalist and author, who has written a lot about the occupation. On this private tour of Copenhagen, I will tell you about the dramatic years under German occupation and show you some of the places related to the period. On the tour, you will also see many of the main sights of Copenhagen - so it will be a two-for-one-experience. You will hear about both heroes and bad guys; Denmark had a strong resistance movement, but a lot of Danes also went to work for the Germans or fought at the Eastern Front. You'll hear about german terror, the strange politics of the time, daring sabotages, the rescue of the Danish jews as well as more unknown war time stories.
Tim was fantastic, personable and very knowledgeable. He will totally meet you where you are in history background, and probably would have spent the entire day with us if nit for our need to have lunch. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in the Danish resistance, or history in general!
We highly recommend this tour! We learned so much about Denmark and it's history. This tour and the time we spent with our guide made our trip to Copenhagen more enriching. This tour gave us another layer of information to add to our knowledge of WW2 and Jewish History. The guide was kind to my husband who at times walks more slowly. We were provided suggestions for the rest of our time in Denmark.
We really enjoyed our WWII walking tour with Tim. He helped us to understand how the quickly the Nazi occupation occurred and how the Danish citizens endured those five years. We especially appreciated learning about how the resistance grew over the years, how Danish citizens came together to evacuate Danish Jews, and the role of the newspaper Informacion in providing intelligence during the war and remains an important source of news and opinion today. Tim was very accommodating in making a last minute change to our starting location, which we really appreciated. We enjoyed talking to Tim on a wide variety of subjects and he really helped us to appreciate Danish culture as well as its history. And we will always remember the “Golden Days” historical bike parade that brought a bit of joy to our history tour!

We'll meet at the military headquarter of Kastellet, where Denmark surrendered without a single shot in the morning of April 9th, 1940. Other stops at the tour might include: - The Parliament, home of the political cooperation with Germany - and of a group of illegals printing anti-german leaflets in the basement - Rosengaarden, a pub where a Danish nazi was killed by the resistance movement and Hviids Vinstue, which was bombed by the nazis as retaliation - Shellhuset, the former Gestapo Headquarter that was the center of one of the most daring allied raids in all of the war - The Synagogue - where the Danish jews was warned of their deportation and most were rescued to Sweden - The city court to hear the story of the deportation of the Danish police to concentration camps and the chaos that followed - The place of a failed coup by Danish nazis - and of course, other places related to the resistance, Danes in German service, so called anti socials and other stories from the occupation
