Greetings. Welcome to Copenhagen! I am a retired American diplomat with over 40 years of "traveling the world" experience. I have been based mostly in Denmark since 2011, where I live happily with my young Danish children. I am an expert on Copenhagen and its surroundings, having literally biked to every nook and cranny of the area, and throughout Denmark. As a career public affairs officer, I have organized tours and official programs for countless American delegations in countless countries. Overview of your Copenhagen tour
This is a driving tour with several options to cater to your group's interests. The core includes a tour of Roskilde, Denmark's first capital, home to the largest cathedral in Scandinavia and the tombs of all Danish monarchs for 800 years, and the world's most important Viking ship museum. No city in Denmark is steeped more in Danish history from Viking to modern day. Our next stop is Frederiksborg and Europe's most beautiful garden castle. According to castle experts - Frederiksborg number 1; Versailles number 2. We will enjoy Denmark's finest smørrebrød in the castle's wonderful outdoor cafe. Next, a scenic drive to Hamlet's Castle Kronborg in Helsingor via Feredensborg, the king's summer residence and Scandinavia's. We will divert through a few of Denmark's traditional villages that maintain houses from the 1600s, to give you a feel for the medieval. Our final stop will be Louisiana, Denmark's world famous art museum.
