Mads took us to the expected tourist sites but his perspective and personality brought it all to life and made it fascinating. He provided great insight into the city and its people He was great company too, a nice bonus.

Once a history teacher, now a passionate guide uncovering Copenhagen's hidden stories and scenic wonders since early 2014. Welcoming countless tourists and schoolchildren, my tours aren't about endless facts and figures, but about discovering the tales tucked behind facades and in hidden alleys. A guided tour is an experience—a resonating story—and Copenhagen is brimming with such tales. Themes like Hans Christian Andersen's legacy or pivotal periods like the 1600s, marked by King Christian IV's grand constructions, offer captivating journeys. Best explored on foot or bike, Copenhagen's charm is its compactness, making almost every corner accessible even on short visits. Opt for the 'Hafnia' tour for a comprehensive introduction or let's tailor one that fits your interests. Public transportation also offers an excellent way to explore. Explore the suggested tours for inspiration, and I look forward to welcoming you to wonderful Copenhagen!" Qualified schoolteacher with 18 years experience - main subjects: danish, history and social studies. A seasoned storyteller - "Storyteller of the month" for april 2017 as selected by the "Storytellers in Denmark" Association. I do not drive and only on rare occations do I arrange tours by car or bus.

Mads is an expert tour guide. I highly recommend him for your tour of Copenhagen. He is a lifelong resident and a former high school history teacher so is very knowledgeable about Copenhagen’s long history. His English is perfect and he has many amusing antidotes of former kings and their families. As a group of 4 who are interested in history, Mads was the best. He is frank about his city and country, if asked. On another note, I felt faint at one point and had to sit down. Mads continued to talk about our surroundings until I felt better. Many times during the tour he asked me if I was feeling better.
We did a walking tour of Copenhagen with Mads. Wow!! He was wonderful and very knowledgeable yet fun. Would highly recommend him for future tours.
Mads was excellent. He was very patient with our boys who asked him lots of questions. He was able to answer all of them while making sure they understood the rich history of the city. He was able to accommodate our elderly parents who needed a slower pace. We stopped for some lovely baked goods. Mads was able to tell us some very interesting facts about the city.
We’d never been to Copenhagen before and wanted a walking tour to not just see buildings and parks but to understand the Danish people, their culture and food, government and politics, economy and personality. Mads did a great job and even made a terrific recommendation for a place near our hotel where we could try the famous open faced sandwiches.
Depending on our starting point and/or special wishes, the tour may include the following sites: - City Hall square (and a peek inside City Hall) - the pedestrian shopping street "Stroeget" - one or more of the iconic old churches; Our Lady, Holmens, Christians Church, Our Saviour and Marble Church (inside visit if possible). - "Parlament Island" - the Christiansborg Palace (outside look) - the pictoresque canal district Christianshavn - the harbour - the iconic Round Tower (maybe climb it?) - the Little Mermaid statue - the 17th century citadel "Kastellet". etc...

Copenhagen is best experienced by foot. So of course that's how we do it. If we are pressed for time - or if you just wish to try it, we may "cheat" and jump the Metro or Harbour Bus for a stop or two.
Copenhagen, 1599, Denmark
Located at the ancient western entry point to the City, this place is the perfect starting point to explore the old City. If you are staying anywhere in or near the center, we can meet at your hotel or where ever suits you - it might steal some time from the actual tour though.
