A Danish anthropologist and global adventurer. I provide you with a customized, personal and memorable experience in Denmark, where I am born and raised. Being a local with a long overseas experience (25 years in Asia, America and Africa) has given me the capacity to have a good feel for what makes Europe, Denmark and Copenhagen exiting for a visitor. I live in the central Østerbro neighbourhood of Copenhagen. Whenever I have some free time, I enjoy riding bicycle or hiking in the beautiful nature surrounding Copenhagen and to explore natural, cultural and historical places. I divide my time between being a tour leader to Asian countries, giving lectures about China, Taiwan, Cambodia and Vietnam and being a ToursByLocals guide in Copenhagen plus a few other things. I am very open to customizing tours to suit your specific interests. My aim is to give you a unique, personal and memorable experience of Copenhagen, Zealand, Southern Sweden or beyond and that each tour will be different. You can either book one of my published tours or send me a message and let me know what your interests are and I will customize a private tour matching your needs. We can go by private car, public transportation, bicycle or foot. We can explore nature or places of cultural and historical interest. Or maybe you are interested in seeing how the local people live? If you choose to go by car I will be your driver as well as I am licensed with a professional drivers license. I personally discovered the Six Forgotten Giants in 2019 and decided that they were absolutely worth a half-day tour. We will go on a treasure hunt to find The Six Forgotten Giants in the western municipalities of Copenhagen: Rødovre, Hvidovre, Vallensbæk, Ishøj, Albertslund, and Høje Taastrup. All six sculptures are made from scrap wood with the help of local volunteers, and are the first chapter of Thomas Dambo's ongoing story: "The great story of the little people and the giant trolls". The incredible project wants to bring art out of the museum, show the beautiful and often overlooked nature spots, and at the same time give an exciting and different experience. The price for this tour is based on 5 hours and up to 6 people. I will be driving you by car between the sculptures. The tour can be customized according to your preferences, please inquire
What an amazing adventure. We wanted to do something different and this excursion fit the bill. It is a long day and a lot of hiking but Henrik never complained about our slower than normal pace. And the giants are so unique and fun - yes you can climb all over them. Henrik is a very personable fellow and we had a lot of fun hanging out with him. He's also a very good photographer. Highly recomend.
Henrik was an incredible host. He adapted to our requests without hesitation. He was knowledgeable of the areas and provided fantastic insight. It rained during our tour and we needed to visit a local shop to change attire. He was un phased and unbothered by this request. We would book with him again if/when we return to Copenhagen.
Henrick was amazing, friendly, knowledgeable, and interesting in his own right besides knowing where to find the trolls. Since there is no signage nor simple stop to see them locations, it took all our time to find the trolls with his knowledge. Plus he said he loved doing this tour as it took him outside and to little lovely parks all over the region. We learned about customs around camping and hiking as well. We even found a few more that were new to him! It was the most interesting and well spent tour we had in Denmark!
Timely, engaging, knowledgeable of local culture, my experience was wonderful. He taught me so much about Danish culture and was one of the highlights of my trip.
This tour was awesome. Henrik is so well traveled and knowledgeable. Beyond the excitement of finding the Giants, Henrik offer so much education and further information on Denmark you may not get elsewhere. Having 4 young boys, I was hoping this tour would show them different aspects of Copenhagen in addition to the beautiful works of art that are the 6 Giants and it did not disappoint. We all had a blast, truly enjoyed the tour, learned a lot as well and enjoyed all Henrik offered us! Thank you!
