Shakespeare knew about it, but he almost certainly never set foot in the Kronborg palace where some of the most extravagant parties of the 16th century were thrown. The castle is extremely well preserved and a lovely place to visit. The town itself isn't too shabby either. Quite the opposite in fact. A walk through this picturesque town with it's narrow streets and half-timbered houses takes you back in time and gives a great impression of life in Denmark back in the day. I personally love visiting Elsinore. It's never too crowded or busy, and a great place to talk about danish history and the country's path to the modern welfare state of today.
We had a wonderful day with Mads on our trip to visit Kronborg and Elsinore . Mads is extremely knowledgeable and provided great tidbits not available in a tour book. He was quite flexible with our schedule and made accommodations seamlessly. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at historic restaurant in Elsinore before our train ride back to Copenhagen . We highly recommend Mads !!!!

We really enjoyed our tour of Kronborg palace and the town of Elsinore. It was very convenient to take the train from Copenhagen to Elsinore and we found great places to have a coffee and pastry as well as lunch afterwards. We toured many areas of the palace and learned the history and fun facts including going down to the dungeons as well as the recently updated disco in the tapestry room. Mads was great and extremely knowledgeable about Kronborg as well as Danish history and very easy to talk with. We had a nice walk through Elsinore at the end before our train ride back to Copenhagen. I'd recommend this tour!
Mads was friendly and considerate about my condition. He followed my pace and made us comfortable even when we rode the train or when we were walking. He gave us valuable information about Elsinore history and also about Kronborg castle. We enjoyed the tour a lot and we learned a lot about the culture and history. I will recommend his tour highly.
Mads was an excellent person to show us what Copenhagen was about. Shared delicious pastries which was an unexpected treat upon meeting him. He was well informed of the castle and knew all the great spots to shop and had us try some local delicacies from a neighboring restaurant. Made sure we were comfortable and very patient. Would absolutely ask for him again when visiting there.
Mas is an outstanding guide. His calm demeanor and knowledge of history is outstanding. He is sensitive to physical limitations and often asked our wishes to modify the tour of Kronberg. The cafe chosen for lunch had a lovely shaded courtyard. Our visit to Copenhagen was truly memorable due to Mas and this trip to Kronberg. Thank you Mas!
We'll meet at the Copenhagen Central station, where we can grab a coffee and a danish to enjoy on the train. The train ride along the coast north of Copenhagen to Elsinore is about 45 min - a good chance to get to know eachother and talk about this and that. From the station we'll stroll through Elsinore to the castle. We'll spend 1½-2 hours at the castle. I could easily spend more, but this should do it. If you're up for it, we can climb the tower and or visit the dungeons. After exploring the castle, we'll walk back through the narrow streets of the town, and perhaps stop by one of the ancient churches or take a look at the old latin-school where fairytale-writer Hans Christian Andersen spent one of five years "in hell". Lunch in one of the many nice cafés in the old town is always a great way to finish off. Return to Cph.
