I am a native Copenhagener with a deep knowledge of Denmark. I have lived and travelled abroad extensively, and I really enjoy welcoming foreigners to the city I love so much. I both do walking tours in Copenhagen and bike or bus tours in or out of Copenhagen. My tours are always custom-designed to fit your interests and needs, and I hope you will experience that you both meet a local friend but also a deeply professional tour guide who really knows his city and culture and can put together a great tour and a great day/days for you. My interests span history over architecture and city planning to modern society and life in Denmark and beyond. I have guided professionally since 2014, but I also have a human resource background and a M. Sc. in Intercultural communication, and when I don't do guided tours, I teach Danish culture and Danish business culture to high-skilled foreigners coming to Copenhagen to work through my own company. Some of the low season, I also lead tours through Europe for an Australian company. Most of my tours in Copenhagen are walking tours, simply because it's the best way to explore inner Copenhagen and the surrounding districts - it's a compact city, and cars don't have a high priority, so walking (or biking) is the best way to get around the central parts of the city. (If you prefer biking or bussing instead of walking, that is also possible). For tours outside Copenhagen I mostly use a trusted bus driver and his bus, but I can also make (more economical) versions using public transport. I would like to give you a tour where you both see the Copenhagen highlights but also satisfy your curiosity of the modern life in Denmark, whatever your interests might be. During the longer tour, I like to include places where you can try a traditional Danish lunch - the "smørrebrød" (open faced sandwiches) - probably the most important addition from the Danish kitchen, and a thing I something do workshops in myself and like to present to guests. Apart from living in Copenhagen, I have spent 4-5 years living abroad (the United States, Argentina and Germany especially). I like to do outstanding tours and service, so if you need some help to plan the rest of your trip in Copenhagen before or after our tour, I am also happy to give advice. I really like meeting people from other countries, and hope to see you on one of my tours. MSc in Intercultural communication and management, university studies in Pennsylvania, USA and Buenos Aires, Argentina Official Danish tourist guide license from Roskilde University (one year full time studies) Broad and deep knowledge of Denmark, Europe and beyond - traveling, living abroad, and meeting people from different cultures have been my interest since childhood. I will not drive myself but hire a driver and van (or accompany you in your vehicle) on the tours that requires driving. (Both for insurance reasons and because I like to focus on the guiding).

Overview of your Copenhagen tour

On this tour, we will explore the most significant parts of inner Copenhagen. We will mostly be in the medieval part of town - and see a few things outside such as Amalienborg where the queen lives, the Marble church, and the iconic Nyhavn (New Harbour). We will explore the origins of Copenhagen, the era of the powerful kings, the reformation, the birth of democracy, and not least the modern life as it takes place in this old city, be it architectural high-lights or the biking culture. I have a wide area of interests that I can draw on, and from living abroad (in the US, Argentina and Germany), I can also put things into perspective. I thoroughly enjoy exploring Copenhagen, my native city, with visitors, and I look forward to make it the best possible day for you.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Jens. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and his information was accurate, detailed, and presented in a very engaging way. It was clear that he has a deep passion for Copenhagen and its history, which made the tour both educational and enjoyable. What impressed us the most was his kindness, patience, and genuine friendliness. I was touring with my daughters, and they asked many questions throughout the day. Jens answered every single one with a smile, great enthusiasm, and endless patience, making them feel welcome and involved throughout the tour. He made the experience enjoyable for both adults and children, and we truly appreciated how attentive and accommodating he was. We highly recommend Jens to anyone visiting Copenhagen. Thank you for such a memorable experience!

The tour began on a rainy morning but Jens had us tucked into a warm, cozy coffee house where the history of Copenhagen was relayed to us. The rain quit and we were off to sights and shops that locals gravitated to. We tasted unusual foods, candies and fruits while absorbing the local atmosphere and history around us. Jens was fantastic. He was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and wonderfully friendly. Our experience was akin to you visiting your relatives and them taking you on a tour of “their “ city. Well done, Jens.

Jens was a phenomenal tour guide for Copenhagen. We learned so much about the history of the country and its people that it gave us a better appreciation of what a special place Copenhagen really is. We highly recommend Jens to inform your way through Copenhagen during and after the tour.

Excellent tour with lots of info about the culture of the Danish people in addition to its history. Energetic enthusiastic guide who gave great recommendations on things for us to do after the tour!

Your Copenhagen tour itinerary

We will custom design the walk to fit your needs (including the need for a café stop if you like), but below are the things I would recommend us to see: - Christiansborg - the Danish parliament and birthplace of Copenhagen - Nyhavn - 'New Harbour', the 400-year idyllic canal with its colorful houses and lively scene - Amalienborg - the Queen's castle - Marble Church - Copenhagen Harbour with views to the Opera, the naval area, etc. - Kongens Nytorv - 'King's new square' with the finest 18C buildings in Copenhagen - Strøget - at the outset in 1962 the longest pedestrian walk in the world, and now the busy artery of Copenhagen - Church of our Lady - Copenhagen's most important church and the birth of Lutheran reformation in Denmark - Gammeltorv/Nytorv - 'Old square/New square' - the heart of medieval Copenhagen - Round Tower - The 400-year-old astronomical observatory (from the outside).
