Hi, I’m Lauri — a licensed Washington, DC tour guide, storyteller, author and proud member of the Guild of Professional Tour Guides of Washington, DC. I’m a DC native (by choice), and when I’m not guiding, you’ll often find me exploring museums, neighborhoods, or following a historical thread that caught my curiosity. I will share this city with you as I would a visiting friend or family member, making Washington easy to understand without feeling overwhelming. My tours focus on the classic monuments and highlights that locals, as well as first-time and international visitors want to see, while clearly explaining what you’re looking at and why it matters. For guests who want to go deeper, I also offer cultural and Black history experiences. I’m the author of 111 Places in Black Culture in Washington, DC That You Must Not Miss, and I enjoy pointing out meaningful stories that are often hiding in plain sight—even at famous landmarks. When we’re finished, you will understand Washington better and gain memories to stay with you long after the tour ends.

Arlington National Cemetery is more than a burial ground — it is a place where American history, service, and memory come together. On walking tour, we’ll explore the cemetery at a thoughtful pace, with time to understand both its significance and the individual stories it represents. As a licensed Washington, DC guide with extensive experience leading visitors through Arlington — and a place I return to often outside of touring because it continues to move me — I help guests feel comfortable and oriented as we walk this important landscape. Along the way, I’ll explain how Arlington came to be, who is buried here, and why it continues to matter today. We will pause for reflection, photography, and observation, including witnessing the Changing of the Guard. Please note that Arlington National Cemetery is an active national shrine with security procedures. Valid identification is required. Food and beverages are not permitted inside the cemetery, though bottled water is allowed.
This three-hour walking tour includes key locations within Arlington National Cemetery, with additional commentary throughout the grounds: -John F. Kennedy Gravesite -Arlington House (Robert E. Lee Memorial) -Supreme Court Hill -Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Changing of the Guard The final walking route and timing may vary based on the Changing of the Guard schedule, walking pace, weather, and guest interests.

Arlington, Virginia, United States
We will meet inside of the Arlington National Cemetery Welcome Center (https://maps.app.goo.gl/AZVRSphu3DCJyKCy5). Proceed to the inside of the Welcome Center, passing through security. Meet at the statue of the soldier playing the bugle in the center of the room. The Welcome Center opens at 8:00 am and doubles as a small museum. There is also a gift shop, restrooms and limited seating. I will be wearing red, and a red and gold name badge.
