I provide specialized insight while arranging customer entry to attractions, military bases, and clubs not normally accessible to the general public. As an eighteen-year resident of the National Capital Region I have studied the history of the area, visited each of its important sites, and discovered extraordinary exhibits, archives, and artifacts not widely known to the public. I'm a twenty-year veteran Navy Officer and graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College. I'm now in my sixth year as a full-time professional guide. I live in Old Town Alexandria, VA with my two pre-teen children. - I have received both doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination - Twenty year Navy Officer - MA Military Studies, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Quantico, VA, June 2011 - Licensed Tour Guide, District of Columbia - Memberships: DC Guild of Professional Tour Guides Piazza Society, Mt Vernon Ladies Association Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association Association of the United States Army Association of the United States Navy United States Naval Institute Marine Corps University Foundation Visit Alexandria Friends of Carlyle House Gadsby's Tavern Museum Society

Overview of your Washington Dc tour

Experience George Washington’s Estate and Gardens on a private Mount Vernon Tour with a trained military historian. We will begin the day with pickup by luxury car at your lodging location. Our journey to Mount Vernon will proceed along the scenic George Washington Memorial Parkway Your Mount Vernon Tour will include the quarters and workshops where enslaved workers lived and worked. We will discover the interior of the mansion house, most of which was built during Washington’s lifetime. Furthermore, we shall pay a respectful visit to George and Martha Washington’s tomb. In addition, we will explore the grounds including gardens, deep woods, acres of farmed fields, and many livestock animals. The breathtaking river view from the mansion cannot be missed. Time will be reserved to examine the exhibits in the museum. The Mount Vernon Tour is my highest recommended tour for families as there are discoveries for all ages. Small children have an especially engaging time during this tour.

Tom was a cordial and polite host. We had a scheduling issue and Tom worked with us to reschedule during out time in DC. We were picked up on time and went to Mt. Vernon quickly, entered and had a great tour. Tom knew where to go and when during the experience. We avoided lines and crowds which was a great thing. The place was crowded at 9am. Tom added a lot of color to the experience and pointed out quite a few things that we otherwise would not have notice nor asked questions about. He really added to the experience.

A group of 10+ of us all have the same sentiments that Tom was WONDEFUL.. It was so nice to have him for all 3 tours. This allowed us to get to know him better and vice versa. He was very knowledgeable about everything we saw and asked questions about. We appreciated the fact that he told us the high points but didn’t drone on about them. In doing so, he held our attention, and we were more engaged. We would use him again… 5 star.

5 stars. A+ Our guide, Tom, gave us a wonderful 1/2 day tour at Mount Vernon. He arrived promptly at our hotel in a clean, late model SUV that easily accommodated our group of 4. His knowledge of the history, folk lore and humorous anecdotes of Mont Vernon were fantastic. He also is expert at navigating the significant volume of visitor groups that roam the site so that we were able to avoid lines and time our arrival at various areas on the grounds at opportune moments. Tom is an EXCELLENT guide.

We started our colonial tour with Tom. He's incredibly knowledgeable, extremely hospitable. He was attentive to our interests and tailored the tour accordingly . We have been on other outstanding TBLs and Tom delivered. Highly recommended! Thank you, Tom
