I moved to Washington, DC in 2000 with the intention of staying three to five years. However, I quickly fell in love with the city and the diversity of our country's history as noted in the stories popping out around every corner of the city. Since being in Washington, I have relished the time I spend with family and friends, telling those stories, and I look forward to doing the same with you. Experiencing Washington DC on foot is the most delightful way to see this historical and wondrous city - really touching and feeling this place: absorbing the energy, getting close to the stunning architecture, talking with local residents on the streets - in essence, experiencing life the way locals do. I am an enthusiastic and creative professional private tour guide. I am timely, people-oriented, and I will offer you a meaningful, personal private tour. If possible, I like to add a surprise site to each of my tours. I am a licensed Washington DC guide and a member of the Guild of Professional Tour Guides of Washington DC. I am unable to provide transportation. I am open to using public transport and ride shares/taxis when necessary. Note that I don't provide museum tours, nor large group walking or bus tours.

Overview of your Washington Dc tour

After moving to DC, I made a visit to Georgetown. I was smitten. I began writing tours of this place, even before I became a guide. So come with me to glorious historical Georgetown and explore the rich history, unique culture, architectural detail of the beautiful homes and diverse people of this corner of our capital city. There is a reason Mercedes Benz chose N Street in Georgetown for one of its commercials. We will take in this historical streets 19th and early 20th century homes and enjoy the stories behind each. We will walk the quaint streets of Georgetown to visit other "famous" homes, including some of the those inhabited by the community's most famous residents, John & Jackie Kennedy. But we will also get to know some less famous residents, including the African Americans who built and thrived in this community. I can make reservations at a local historical restaurant if you are interested.

Transport details
Type: Walking

This is a walking tour. Georgetown's sidewalks are uneven brick so please wear comfortable shoes. So that I can better time your tour, I do need to know if any are slow walkers and/or have trouble on uneven terrain (tree roots, small dips in grassy areas). If I know this prior to your tour, I can make accomodations.
