Full Day Custom Private Tour of Washington DC

Ellen was great to work with from beginning to end. To start off her communication with myself was great. She wanted to know what we wanted to see and learn about. I'm interested in the history of Washington D.C. and the memorials. Ellen took us to see a great view of the White House despite it being all blocked off surrounding Lafayette Square, due to foreign dignitaries being in D.C. The weather wasn't cooperative at times, but Ellen had packed ponchos for all of us in case we needed them. This is one of the things that I can say that separates her from other guides I've seen from around the city. Others visitors were either sharing a small umbrella or just dealing with the rain. If the rain became to unbearable she knew perfect areas to wait and still teach us about the history of the city. Ellen also planned out areas in case we either wanted to eat or go to the bathroom. She was very flexible on ideas of where to go and make our time memorable. She always had a plan and asked us what we were interested in case we changed our mind after communicating by messages or on the phone. Ellen took us around to the famous memorials like the Washington Monument, inside and the undercroft of the Lincoln Memorial, as well as the war memorials. She even took us to the World War I Memorial funded by the US government as well to the one that commemorates residents from Washington D.C. She took us to Arlington Cemetery as well as Robert E. Lee's house. Ellen also surprised me with someone who i looked up to and she knew he was buried at Arlington. She said she knew where his grave was and we were able to see it and I could pay my respect. Ellen then showed us the tomb of the unknown soldier and told us about their history and traditions. At the end of the tour Ellen also gave us ideas on what we could do with the remainder of our stay in Washington. She recommended the 9/11 memorial at the Pentagon and told us the significance of its design. We were also recommended the People's House right near the White House. It has a great model of the White House as well as the Oval Office. They even have scenarios where you can vote and attend state dinners. To sum up Ellen was knowledgable, courteous, thoughtful, and prepared. I would only recommend her as your tour guide for Washington D.C.

Ellen was fantastic. I requested a tour covering the White House, Capitol buildings, Library of Congress and the Supreme Court. We did a leisurely stroll during which Ellen gave a lot of entertaining historic information which made the buildings feel much more real than they would be if I had visited them myself. Her experience also helped avoid confusing/time consuming bureaucracy of accessing some areas. I would recommend Ellen completely to anyone who wants a local guide who really knows the city!

We organized the Washington D.C. city tour for our group of 50 people. Ellen was fun and professional and provided all the historical and cultural information about the city. Great tour of the monuments followed by a very nice lunch. She was easy to talk to, offered many insider tips and very interesting pieces of information that you would never have uncovered on your own. I would highly recommend and would tour with her again.
