My name is Ertunga and I was born in 1977 in Kusadası, where I still live. I graduated from the University of Philology, Department of English Language and Literature. I worked as an English Teacher for few years but I understood that it is not really what I wanted so I finished my short teaching career. Then I decided to study History and Archaeology and use my knowledge on this field. In 2001 I became professional tour guide, with the license issued by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Since then I have worked for many agencies as an independent guide and I have been meeting tourists from all over the world. During this fourteen years, I have also been organizing private tours, and working with ToursByLocals is perfect option for me. Since I grew up and have lived all my life in a touristic town, guiding has always been my dream. Very early I understood that it would be the most convenient job for my lifestyle, because I like history, archaeology, traveling and meeting different people and cultures, and the most important of everything, I love my country and want to help people see it's beauty and understand it's history and culture and at the same time, earning money from what I really enjoy doing; is a great feeling. I have guiding experience in all areas in Turkey, but my favorite tours are definitely those in the Aegean and Istanbul. Overview of your Kusadasi tour
This tour is an interesting combination of history and natural wonders. During the 3 hour drive to Pamukkale, I usually give share information about Turkey and answer my guest's questions. Once we arrive, you can easily understand why Pamukkale is a unique place to enjoy the hot thermal pools and take beautiful photos. The ruins of Hierapolis are interesting, as the city is a good example of an ancient spa, with a big necropolis and a very well preserved theatre. Depending on my guest's interests, sometimes I put the accent on the historical part and Christian details (St. Phillip grave), and sometimes it is more about the Pamukkale spa, showing the best viewpoints and giving you time to enjoy the pools. I always remember my first visit to Pamukkale when I was a child and I walked barefoot down the travertine terraces. That is something my guests enjoy a lot during this tour. Do you know that Hierapolis was visited by Cleopatra? An educational and relaxing day in Pamukkale is a great experience!
Your Kusadasi tour itinerary
-The site is located 3 hours driving distance from Kusadasi and Selcuk, so an early pick-up is suggested. -After we arrive at Pamukkale, we will walk through the ruins of ancient Hierapolis - I will give you information about the history of the site and tell you some interesting stories about its past. We usually spend 2 hours in the archaeological part of the site, so that you can see the main spots like the theatre and take photos without a rush. -Then, we will reach Cleopatra's Pool - after I give you information about the benefits of Pamukkale thermal water, you can spend some of your free time swimming in the pool. -Instead of that, you can also choose to spend that time walking barefoot down the Travertines, filled with thermal water enriched with calcium. We usually leave about 1 hour for relaxing in the pools and taking photos. -Afterward, we will drive back to the hotel. -We suggest a quick lunch stop before the sightseeing. -Feel free to contact me if you would like to customize this tour!
