Our private tour of Ephesus with Boz was one of the absolute highlights of our Mediterranean cruise. From the moment he met us at the cruise port, everything was seamless. He was waiting exactly where he said he would be, our driver was excellent, and we were on our way without any stress. Like all of our private tours on this trip, we told Boz that while we wanted to see the must-see attractions, we also wanted to get away from the crowds and experience the authentic side of Türkiye. He completely understood what we were looking for and built the day around that philosophy. What sets Boz apart is that he isn’t just a tour guide—he’s a true scholar. As we walked through the ancient city of Ephesus, he didn’t simply point out ruins. He brought the city to life, explaining how it functioned, the daily lives of its people, and the incredible history behind every street, building, and monument. At times, it genuinely felt like he had stepped back into the city’s golden age and was giving us a firsthand account. We visited the iconic sites, including Ephesus, the Temple of Artemis, and the Basilica of St. John. One of the most fascinating parts of the day was learning how this area represents thousands of years of history. Boz explained the connections between the ancient pagan world, early Christianity, and Islam as we explored the ruins of the Basilica of St. John alongside the nearby Isa Bey Mosque, all protected by the ancient fortress overlooking the valley. His knowledge of history, archaeology, and scripture made these sites come alive in a way we never expected. Then came the part of the day we enjoy most—leaving the tourist trail. Boz took us into the local countryside to places we never would have found on our own. We visited the Lotus Ceramic Garden, where three generations of the same family still create pottery using techniques dating back to ancient times. Watching the grandmother, her children, and even her 20-year-old granddaughter working side by side was a beautiful reminder that some traditions are still very much alive. We also enjoyed an incredible home-cooked Turkish meal prepared by local farmers on their family farm, visited a cooperative where skilled artisans weave authentic Turkish carpets by hand, and had time to browse a local bazaar before returning to the ship. At no point did the day feel rushed, and we were back at the port with plenty of time to spare. If you simply want someone to take you from one monument to the next, almost any guide can do that. But if you want someone who can transport you through history, explain the deeper significance of what you’re seeing, and then take you beyond the tourist sites to experience the real culture and people of Türkiye, Boz is the guide you’re looking for. His passion, knowledge, and genuine love for his country made this one of the best tours we’ve ever taken. We would book with him again in a heartbeat.

I can agree with the other reviews which highly rated Boz, we had a fun and informative day touring around Ephesus and the surrounding area. We hadn't done much research of what we wanted to see, so he asked us a few questions at the start then quickly planned our day to avoid bigger tours peak visit times as much as possible.
