Explore Marmaris your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Marmaris tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Marmaris for every interest, including:

Nature and Wildlife tours: Cruise the Dalyan River through reed beds to spot herons and, in season, loggerhead turtles near Iztuzu Beach, or sail to Cleopatra Island for clear-water swimming and snorkelling. Closer by, hike the coastal path between Amos and Turunç for sunrise views.

History tours: Climb the ramparts of Marmaris Castle and wander lanes of the old quarter before heading to the hillside ruins of Amos above Turunç. With a full day, circle the Datça Peninsula to Knidos for its theatre and temples by the sea.

Museums tours: The Marmaris Castle Museum presents regional archaeology and ethnography in atmospheric rooms, making a solid rainy-day stop. Pair it with the Marmaris Honey House in Osmaniye village to learn about pine honey traditions and taste different varieties.

The harbour area is easy on foot and local minibuses connect beaches, but remote coves and ancient sites require wheels; ask about chauffeured tours or tours with private transportation for flexible routes.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Marmaris inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Marmaris

From Marmaris you can reach calm coves, small villages, and ancient ruins within an easy ride or short boat hop, and these day trips pair well with private tours that match your pace, from gentle swims to deeper history.

- Dalyan and Kaunos: glide through reed beds to see Lycian rock tombs, explore the ancient city, and finish at Iztuzu Beach, a favourite if you like wildlife, river scenery, and a simple mix of ruins and sand without a long drive.

- Datça and Knidos: stone lanes in Old Datça, almond treats, clear bays, and the dramatic tip of the peninsula where Knidos faces two seas, great for coastal views, light hiking, and ruins that feel far from busy resorts.

- Bozburun and Selimiye: quiet harbours, traditional gulet boatyards, and glassy water for swim stops, which suits you if seafood lunches, easy walks, and a slow coastline loop sound right for your tour.

- Akyaka and the Azmak River: wooden houses and a shady riverside path lead to a clear-water boat ride or paddle, with steady Gökova breezes and relaxed cafés, good for families and anyone who wants nature with no fuss.

- Orhaniye Kızkumu and Turgut: walk the sandbar straight into the bay, then head to a short forest trail and waterfall near Turgut, a simple combo for light activity, village food, and bay views in one outing.
