Explore Dikili your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Dikili tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Dikili for every interest, including:

History tours: Travel to Bergama to ride the cable car up to the Acropolis of ancient Pergamon and walk the steep theatre and Trajan Temple. Stop at the Asklepion healing centre and the ruins of Atarneus just outside Dikili.

Layover tours: If your ship docks for half a day, a 4–5 hour tour can cover Pergamon’s Acropolis and the Red Basilica with a quick gözleme or kebab stop. With only 2–3 hours, visit Çandarlı Castle and a seaside café, or choose the Nebiler waterfall and nearby hot springs for a nature break.

Religious Sites tours: Explore the Red Basilica (Kızıl Avlu) in Bergama, once a temple to Egyptian deities and later a Byzantine church connected to the Seven Churches of Revelation. Your guide can also include Bergama’s Ulu Cami and smaller neighbourhood mosques for a look at Ottoman-era faith and architecture.

Dikili’s centre is easy to walk, but sites like Pergamon and Çandarlı are spread out with limited public transport. Tours with private transportation or a chauffeured vehicle make the most of your time; ask your local guide to arrange it.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Dikili inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Dikili

Use dikili as a base and spend a day exploring nearby coastal towns, ancient ruins, and busy neighbourhoods that feel close yet different, with easy day trips and private tours that fit your style.

Bergama (Pergamon). You get a hillside ancient city with sweeping views, a steep Roman theatre, and the ruins of temples that draw history fans and casual sightseers alike. If you like archaeology and clear storylines, your tour can focus on the Acropolis, the Asklepion healing centre, and the Red Basilica area for a compact look at the Hellenistic and Roman layers.

Ayvalik and Cunda Island. Stone lanes, olive oil mills, and a relaxed harbour make this an easy day built around food and sea air. If cafés, market browsing, and heritage streets are your thing, plan time for olive oil tastings, meze lunches, and slow walks through restored houses that show the area’s Greek-Ottoman past without rushing.

Izmir. A bigger city day trip with a waterfront promenade, the Clock Tower at Konak, and the lively Kemeralti Market where you can try street eats and find local crafts. If you like urban energy mixed with history, your tour can link the Agora of Smyrna with modern neighbourhood stops so you see both ruins and daily life in one go.

Foça. A small fishing town with calm bays, short coastal walks, and seafood spots along the quay. If you want an easy day with light history and time by the water, visit the old quarter, learn about the ancient Phocaeans, and leave room for a swim in warmer months.

Çandarlı. Close to dikili, this seaside spot centres on a stout castle, quiet beaches, and tea gardens with sunset views. If you prefer short drives and simple plans, explore the fortifications, stroll the shoreline, and keep the day flexible for photo stops and a fresh fish dinner.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Dikili most travellers miss.
