I was born in San Sebastián, though the most of my life has passed in Toledo. My first academic study concerning the profession of Tourist Guide was Specialist on Enterprises and Tourist Activities at the Official Tourist School from Madrid. Since then, 1991, I have been practising the profession of Tourist Guide in Toledo, both in Spanish and English, French or Portuguese. And for all this time I've actively belong to the Castilla-La Mancha Tourist Guide Association. With the idea of improving my knowledge for my job, I was arranging some years later my profession with the studies of Degree on Humanities at the School of Toledo, where after graduating I finished the courses of Doctorate and so I get the Advanced Studies Diploma. For all these years I've got the pleasure of introducing Toledo to visitors of all kind: students, adults, diverse kinds of associations, handicapped, congresses, institucional tours, etc. All the city guides of Toledo are constantly improving our backgrounds and renovating our knowledge of the city atending to lectures and especific courses for Tourist Guides. Since I started my professional activity I am an active member of the Castilla-La Mancha Tourist Guides Regional Association, where I have hold diverse responsibilities. This Association, and then all his fellows, are integrated in CEFAPIT (Spanish Confederation of Tourist Guides Federation and Association), FEG (European Guides Federation) and in the World Federation of Tourist Guides Associations. I think I am a very lucky person because I feel like an embasador of this city. Living here gives me the chance of knowing many places, details and those hidden treasures that are not easy to find. Toledo is the union of three religions: Jews, Muslims and Christians. And that's what people tell me that surprises them the most. Here we can not talk about "purity", because everything is intermingled, since for eight centuries these three cultures lived together, until the fifteenth century. Travellers choosing this tour, are amazed when they see a synagogue that looks like a mosque, or a mosque with a cross on top, or the cathedral with Moorish decoration inside. That is Toledo: a mixture of cultures really "in tune" with each other. You will be able to discover that with the best explanations visiting the synagogue of Saint Mary the White, the mosque of the Savior and the Primade Cathedral. But we will also talk about life today in Toledo, and how many of our customs come from other times and from other cultures. Even in our food, since some of our main dishes have their origin in those other cultures, like our worldwide well known marzipan, a sweet made with almond and sugar.
Just what we were hoping for. Great knowledge, easy delivery, on time, good english skills and communication through email and WhatsApp. We wanted to better understand the connection between Christian, Jewish and Muslim history in Toledo. Juan did not disappoint.
One of the best guides I ever had. Punctual, great communication before (we came by train from Madrid) and during the tour. Juan was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Not overloading us with unnecessary details, you could sense that Juan had a profound understanding of history, that he is passionate. The tour was over 3 hours but it felt like only one hour, a feeling we all (4 adults) shared. His English was very good and easy to understand. We highly recommend.

Juan is a great teacher. And makes the information accessible. He speaks English very well. Very enthusiastic. Learned so many details we would never have accessed on our own. Worth every penny. So highly recommend him. Book an individual tour if possible as you can ask so many questions.

Meeting point: We will meet at the main square, Plaza de Zocodover. Or at another location if you prefer. And if you're coming by train, ask me to see if we can meet at the station. From the station, you'll need to take a taxi to the historic center. - Mosque of the Savior: An ancient mosque where we can find Roman, Visigothic, and Islamic remains, later converted into a church. - Northern part of the old city: in our itinerary we will walk through those streets between big old houses and large convents - Jewish Quarter: we will enter in one of the main secrtions of Toledo - Monastery of Saint John of the Monarchs (outside): built on time of the Catholic Monarchs. - Synagogue of Saint Mary the White: second visit today on this old temple from the XIIth century. - Square of the City Hall - Cathedral: visit inside of this temple, the second largest one in Spain, and its museums. - Back to the main square: end of the visit. The itinerary can be adapted to traveller's interests: do no hesitate to contact me.

Walking tour. If you're arriving by train, you can walk from the station to Plaza de Zocodover via the Alcántara Bridge (about 20 minutes), or take a taxi (about 5 minutes). Alternatively, I can meet you at the station and we can take a taxi for a panoramic drive around the historic city, including the views from the other side of the river (it's around €25). If you'd like to choose this last option, please let me know in advance so I can reserve a taxi, as there are only a few available.
