Let me introduce myself. My name is Susana and I've been guiding in Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, and Avila for over twenty years now as a full-time activity, and. . . . here I am, still on stage. I am happy to say that I have done over 500 tours only with ToursByLocals during the last 9 years. This hasn't been my only job ever, I have been teaching languages since. . . always, as this is the family business, and I got to know the tourism industry since I was very young as it was my early passion. Hotels, airlines, tour director. . . All these experiences have made me a very versatile person, which helps a lot with my actual activity. Overview of your Toledo tour
From the pre-Roman times to the 21st Century. Mainly known as the "former capital of Spain". The Romans made of it an important city, which now we know - thanks to recent archeological research - is at least 4, 000 years old. After that, the barbarians made of it the capital of the Visigothic Kingdom. 100 years after the creation of Islam, it became a Muslim ruled city during 400 years. After that it became a border-line city till the 13th century and then a new period begins, the former main Mosque turns into a new Gothic cathedral finished one year after the discovery of America, in an amazingly way. Let's not forget the relationship between the role played by Toledo's Jewish community and the European Renaissance! All these cultures have left a trail of magnificent buildings and works of art, which speak for themselves. You'll be picked up at your accommodation in Madrid city and we'll go together for this wonderful Toledo experience. Pls, note that train tickets must be bought in advance.

Thanks for a great day in Toledo! Susana was so fun! She accompanied us from Madrid and I'm not sure we would have made it out of the city without her. In Toledo, she gave a great tour of the city history, the cathedral and through the Jewish Quarter. So many jewels in this little city just leaves you in awe. We were able to stop for a great paella in a tiny local place that she found and then she showed us some of the best places to get knives, ceramics and leather in the city. Thanks again!

Your Toledo tour itinerary
tinerary THIS TOUR DOESN'T INCLUDE TRANSPORTATION. WHY? Some customers bring their own, and others don't feel comfortable sharing their passport numbers, which I need to make train reservations, so you have to make them yourselves. If you want to include transportation, let me know BEFORE BOOKING so I can send you the right link. Pick up in Madrid, and transfer to Toledo in the transportation of your choice, Toledo tour & back to Madrid. The itinerary in Toledo can be discussed "à la carte". The tour can be focused on any way you want, taking into consideration the city's cultural richness. That means if you are especially interested in this World Heritage City in general: a complete tour covering Cathedral, Greco, and the Jewish quarter, going through the maze of streets that will remind us of its Muslim past too, we'll be organized. If you prefer to concentrate on a particular segment of the history of this great city, that can also be organized. Let's talk about your concerns! Big groups welcome too
