El Greco Half Day Toledo Private Walking Tour

Since 2013 I've already given more than 350 tours as a TBL guide. I've learned from you, the travellers, what's is really interesting, impressive and unique in the city where I was born and raised. My degree in Art History will make you see the art pieces to come alive. Allow me to show you how El Greco became a famous master in Toledo, where he arrived in 1577. Along the tour we will see and comment more than 40 Greco canvases, including his famous masterpieces, spreaded in different buiñdings and commisioned in very different circumstances. We will walk through the 16th century Toledo, East to West, to contextualize the late Renaissance city that the famous painter met, its monuments and streets but also the way people received him, his "special" relation with his main clients: the catholic church and the aristocracy. At the end of the tour you will say that you know the artist but also the human being he was in Toledo, where he lived 37 years.

-Panoramic introduction around the river Tajo landscapes and the old town skyline El Greco painted in the 16th century (20 minutes) - Walking tour, East to West, starting at the main square, Zocodover, to get to Sta. Cruz Museum (20 min), the Cathedral (1h), and Sto. Domingo el Antiguo Convent (40 min), where we will meet the first Greco canvases - Coffe break (15 min) - Walking tour through the Jewhish Quarter, where the artist stablished his home and where we will see "The Burial of the Lord of Orgaz" (his famoust masterpiece) at Sto. Tomé Church (15-20 min) and "View and Plan of Toledo" at el Greco Museum. (1h) - End of the tour surrounded by restaurants, shops and taxi stop.
