Hello! Growing up in Oklahoma I frequently visited my Spanish family. I moved to Madrid in 1992 and then to Barcelona in 2001 where I first worked in fashion retail. In 2009, after passing the Official Guide Exam in Catalonia I provided tours there until 2020. I now live in Toledo, Spain where my mother's family is from. I guide here and in the greater Madrid area. My university degree is in Retail Merchandising, and I minored in Greek and Roman History. I also have CELTA certification for teaching English to foreign learners. I consider myself an "all-terrain" guide. I enjoy doing all sorts of tours from foodies to wine to sports and the like. My primary areas of interest are history, architecture, and art. I am passionate about Toledo, the city of three cultures: Jewish, Catholic, and Muslim. I've guided numerous religious groups of many faiths. Jewish heritage tours are of special interest to me as Spain and Toledo have a rich Sephardic history. I enjoy meeting people from all around the world with their varied customs and beliefs. Showing people my country is a pleasure! 1989 BS in Retail Merchandising and Minor in Humanities from the University of Central Oklahoma. 1992 Semester abroad Southern Methodist University In Highland Park Texas. Discover Toledo's Sephardic Heritage with me. The Golden Age of Judaism took place on the Iberian Peninsula in the medieval period with Toledo being one of the most important cities with Sephardic heritage. Essential sites of Jewish Heritage: The former church of Santa Maria la Blanca which was originally the Main Synagogue. 5 naves and multiple horseshoe arches with elaborate plaster work capitals with pine cone motifs support the building. The Sephardic Museum is housed in the former church of El Tránsito which was originally the 14th century Synagogue of Samuel Ha Levi, treasurer to king Pedro I of Castille. It has beautiful palatial plaster work on the interior walls and an impressive wooden Spanish Ceiling in a Mudejar style. Vaulted medieval brick ceiling underground. Possible Mikvah and crypto synagogue. The Primatial Cathedral with infasis on its Jewish aspects. Inside find out about certain parts of it as it pertains to the Jewish people. I can customize this tour to your request.
- We will start the walking tour from The Cambron Gate, (Also called the Jewish Gate) - From there we will go inside The Main Synagogue. - The Sephardic Museum and Synagogue of Samuel Ha Levi - In the Jewish quarter we can visit a medieval vaulted brick sealing underground which archaeologist suggest may have been a micvah (Jewish ritual bath). Also, archaeologist suggest they may have been used as crypto synagogues. - We will end the tour in The Primatial Cathedral of Holly Mary
