Walking tour Lisbon Portugal - Half Day

This was an AMAZING walking tour, and that says a lot for walking in Lisbon. Our guide Rita was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Lisbon and proved to be an enthralling teller of both. She was able to personalize the storied history of that city in a way that captured our attention and gave meaning to everything we were seeing and experiencing. As we toured, she spoke of the arts, music, and dance that defined Lisbon. She led us through its political history and the revolution in which her own family participated (as evidenced by a photo posted at the Largo do Carmo, a key location in the people's revolutionary fight). Her storytelling excited our entire group infusing us all with a love for this city. One of our most meaningful stops was the Bertrand Bookstore, the oldest bookstore in the world! Each of us purchased a book, focusing on local writers, and having our books stamped accordingly. I myself bought a copy of "Blindness" by Lisbon's Nobel prize winning author Jose Saramago. This tour has created many wonderful memories of Lisbon and ignited my desire to learn more and hopefully visit again. Lisbon can be difficult to walk due to the many hills and stairs, but somehow she made it feel like a pice of cake through some very strategic shortcuts. Rita has a gift as a tour guide, and should we make it to Lisbon again, we will definitely use her!

Rita was a delight! She shared so many interesting facts about Lisbon that were not tour book material. She is engaging and generally fun to hang out with and loves her hometown. We finished our day with an excellent lunch at an old Lisbon establishment that no tourist would be able to find on their own. If you book a tour with Rita....you will have a lot of fun. So, I highly recommend her!!
