Hello, I'm Paula! Having a Portuguese father, a French mother, a 5 years experience living in Italy, 2 full immersions courses in England, my environment is international. I speak foreign languages and I'm in touch with foreign people since my childhood. Consequently I took a first degree in International Relations and then a degree in Tourism Information specializing in Tour Guiding in 2003. Since then I've been working as a professional tourist guide always willing to learn more and to meet new people. My purpose has always been to be an ambassador of the Portuguese built, cultural and natural heritage I'm so fond of. To that I add my passion for wine, specially the Portuguese ones! I'm a certified sommelier and I'm postgraduated in Wine Tourism. I love to organize wine & food tastings and sensory experiences. On each bottle there is a storytelling that I'm proud to share with guests. Drinking is quenching thirst, tasting wine is culture! You don't drink alcohol? Not a problem, there are plenty of delicacies to be tasted :-) I'm also a trainer. I teach Winemaking, Food and Wine Pairing, Tourist Products and Services, etc. Yes I love to share my knowledge. Paula is an amazing tour guide who is very knowledgeable. Paula makes you feel like an old friend very early on in the tour. Where else could we enjoy the fruits of wine in Lisbon with an extremely knowledgeable sommelier in a private setting? Paula Thomas provided the two of us with a unique and fantastic journey through the wine regions of Portugal in a special wine bar. Then she challenged us to appreciate the differences! Our tour was roughly split in two; The wine pairing part was spectacular. We have spent a non-trivial amount of time exploring wine, but we still learned so much about wine in general, and Portuguese wine specifically from Paula. As we explored Lisbon I was particularly impressed with her ability to adapt to learning that we did a 5-6 hour tour with someone else the day before. Despite that we still explored new things and learned so much. We highly recommend Paula.
Paula is a wealth of knowledge - she has a great sense of Portugal and wonderful details of the city (Lisbon) and life growing up here. The pace of the tour and sights were very good.
