This private day trip from Lisbon to the Douro Valley offers a glimpse of central Portugal's highlights. While this itinerary outlines one possible route, there are other alternatives. Feel free to reach out to customize your journey. Starting in Lisbon, our first stop can be Fátima or Coimbra, depending on what you prefer to focus on, if more towards the religious side or more historical and connected to the foundation of the country (We can visit both but this will make the following stop impossible). After this we move to Viseu, in the Dão wine region, to have a tasting of the local wines, different from other locations and from the Douro Valley where you'll end the day. This journey is a wonderful way to explore central and northern Portugal and its rich history, and I’ll guide you through each destination and ensure we make the most of your day. Come and enjoy this unforgettable experience!
Your Lisbon tour itinerary
After departing, it will take us about 1h15 minutes to reach Fátima, a serene Christian sanctuary, one of the most important in Europe or 2 hours to reach Coimbra, the location of Portugal’s oldest university and home base for the reconquering of the land by the Portuguese to the moors. Whichever you choose, there will be time to explore, grab a snack, or shop for souvenirs. In the last leg of our journey, we will travel north east to Viseu, where we can taste the local wines and will be arriving at your hotel in the Douro Valley (either Régua, Lamego or Pinhão) by the evening. As this tour ends in the Douro Valley, you can extend your experience with additional days in the city, a guided tour of the area, or even a trip combined with Porto. Alternatively this trip can also start in the Douro Valley and end in Lisbon. Feel free to reach out for any changes or additions you may need.

Depending on group size and availability our transports are always made on a premium sedan/estate (Mercedes E or equilavent) or a Mercedes Van. All cars are equipped with wi-fi, cooler, leather seats, multizone air conditioning and privacy windows. Altough the maximum capacity of the van is 7, we set the maximum number to 5 so that the middle seats are not taken and there's more room. If your group is larger than 5 please contact us so we can create a customized tour.
