Hi there! I'm Sandra, a history buff and qualified Official Tour Guide. Welcome to this stone book that is Portugal! I feel so fortunate to be a true born and bred Lisbon local. A charming city of the Old Continent blessed with more than 300 sunny days a year. And we Portuguese certainly make the most of it, with terraces and squares on every corner! I am an experienced Guide specializing in day trips from Lisbon and museum guided tours. All peppered with a strong passion for history, art and storytelling. As a big time history lover, it's no big surprise that I am a fan of the History Channel. And, being passionate about the history of the Portuguese Templar Knights (a personal favourite), I of course follow The Curse of Oak Island. When I'm not guiding, you'll find me browsing old bookshops for another history book, or enjoying a sunny day on the terrace of a Lisbon café overlooking the wide Tagus river. HOW IT ALL STARTED I'm a Journalism graduate and studied in Australia for a year - many moons ago. Back in Portugal, I took a career turn, went back to school and started all over again. I've always loved history and, as a former journalist, I like nothing more than sharing a tale or two. And that's how I started sharing stories with people like you. During this tour Sandra did a great job of sharing her knowledge of Portuguese history in an enjoyable way. The visits to the Monastery of Alcobaca and town of Obidos will be highlights of our two weeks in Portugal. The lunch Sandra took us to in Obidos was excellent. What a fun day.
It would be difficult to detail all the wonderful information and entertainment Sandra provided our group of 6. If you love history , interesting details about the rich and /or famous , and humorous stories you should definitely book with Sandra. We enjoyed her initial tour so much we booked her for two more tours. We spent 3 of our 8 days in Lisbon with Sandra taking us on tours we selected. The comfortable car , good choices for lunch and extraordinary history lessons made these three of our top all time tours. We have traveled to a different part of Europe every year for the past 12 years and Sandra is at the top of our guide lists. highly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Alcobaça, Nazaré and Obidos woth Sandra. She is an excellent and informative guide with a great sense of humour. She was truly helpful to two of our friends who have difficulty walking. Her large van was more than ample and comfortable for five of us. We will certainly book a tour with her next time in Lisbon.
