Hi there! I'm Sandra, a history buff and qualified Official Tour Guide. Welcome to this stone book that is Portugal! I feel so fortunate to be a true born and bred Lisbon local. A charming city of the Old Continent blessed with more than 300 sunny days a year. And we Portuguese certainly make the most of it, with terraces and squares on every corner! I am an experienced Guide specializing in day trips from Lisbon and museum guided tours. All peppered with a strong passion for history, art and storytelling. As a big time history lover, it's no big surprise that I am a fan of the History Channel. And, being passionate about the history of the Portuguese Templar Knights (a personal favourite), I of course follow The Curse of Oak Island. When I'm not guiding, you'll find me browsing old bookshops for another history book, or enjoying a sunny day on the terrace of a Lisbon café overlooking the wide Tagus river. HOW IT ALL STARTED I'm a Journalism graduate and studied in Australia for a year - many moons ago. Back in Portugal, I took a career turn, went back to school and started all over again. I've always loved history and, as a former journalist, I like nothing more than sharing a tale or two. And that's how I started sharing stories with people like you. I've been lucky enough to have this "job" since 2014. WHAT I PROMISE All the must see sites, but also the hidden gems. Jaw-dropping architecture, hidden alleys and history and stories of ancient times. For day tours from Lisbon, I drive a Mercedes-Benz Vito which can accomodate up to 7 passengers (fully air-conditioned) or a Mercedes E-Class for up to 3. Do not hesitate to get in touch with me. I'm more than happy to share my insider tips and hints. See you in Portugal. Cheers, Sandra Official Tour Guide - SNATTI 4869 Licensed Operator RNAAT 412/2014 by Turismo de Portugal (Official Tourism Accreditation) Fully insured professional (Public Liability Insurance Cover) Insured and registered vehicles Journalism Graduate I have no restrictions, but my vehicles are smoke-free (no smoking allowed).

After this tour, you will never look at a monastery the same way again! Immerse yourself deeply in the world of the Cistercian monks and in the purity of their architectural style, the gateway to the Gothic style in Portugal. Come with me and discover how such a strict religious order was once the most powerful and protected by Portuguese royalty. I will also share the tragic love story of King Pedro I and Inês de Castro with you, who, after being killed, was crowned Queen. Their tombs are here, masterpieces of European Gothic Style, and are an open window into the story of the two lovers. And if you like sweets, don't miss the world award-winning conventual sweets of Alcobaça. Yumm . . . mouthwatering!!! With this sugar rush, we'll be ready to travel back in time in the medieval town of Óbidos. We'll walk along its cobbled streets and hidden alleys. A town so cared for, as only the queens of Portugal could manage it. Discover all of its highlights, but also the secrets - we won't leave a stone unturned!
