Following the path of the Templars in Portugal we will discover an amazing region in center Portugal. Experience Portugal origins and our contribution to make the world a better place. Templars will be continued as the Christ order and were directly involved in the golden era of Portugal, the Sea Discoveries. We will visit Almourol, the local villages and Tomar, we will see and learn about the history and culture. Almourol reminds me of tv series when I was a child, a real castle in the middle of a river. In Tomar we breathe the knights presence everywhere. You will be amazed to see how well preserved the Convent is, and the amount of symbols to discover in every corner.
ALMOUROL / TOMAR From Lisbon we head north following the direction of Tejo river that will take us to this castle settled in the middle of Island in Tejo, Almourol. We shall pass picturesque villages bordering the Tejo line, once the natural border with the muslim south. Afterwards we continue to Tomar, the portuguese headtown of the Templar order. In Tomar we visit a site included in the Unesco World Heritage list , the Convent of Christ. Also in Tomar, Santa Maria do Olival church inspirational for many overseas catholic churches. Tomar was once the roman Sellium, deserves a relaxing walk in its streets. Still to be seen, the Iberian oldest synagoge, Saint John Baptist church, Mata dos 7 Montes and the Convent aquaduct. - The tour can be adjusted according to your preferences, please inquire
