We made many stops on this tour, but our favorite had to be visiting the fishing villages of Baleal and Peniche. The sea was roaring this day and provided some amazing waves. We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant for a wonderful lunch. A stop that we would not have made without our local guide. Paulo was a wonderful guide and we would highly recommend him if you are planning a visit to Portugal.
Paolo is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and creative in identifying very interesting places to go and see. He has a comfortable air-conditioned minivan and is flexible in managing the itineraries. His tour to Obidos, Peniche and Mafra is excellent.
Paulo made my day a special day as he followed my wishes which were made at the last minute. Loved the trip up the wild coastline north of Lisbon. Seeing the angry sea still impresses me as I come from an area of dangerous waters. Also visited Obidos, an old quaint village which offers a special cherry wine served in chocolate cups--very good! Loved the timing of his tour as he made special time to drive back and forth the Vasco da Gama bridge which is an engineering marvel. This was high on my to do list

We drive through the province of Extremadura to Óbidos, known as "Village of Queens". Entirely surrounded by walls and very well preserved. Here we start an extensive orientation tour. Guests are invited to the famous cherry liqueur "Ginginha taste". Free time. Óbidos is located near the magnificent coastal scenery of Peniche. Peniche is a small fishing town where the fishing industry is an important activity. Lot's of restaurants specialized in fish and seafood. Strange rock formations at the "Cabo Carvoeiro" can be admired. Short photo stop. Along the way we enjoy this magnificent coastal scenery until we arrive at the fishing village of Baleal, a fusion between land and sea. Stop for you to discover it. Our journey takes us north through the hilly landscape of the west coast until we reach Mafra. Mafra Convent has inspired several Portuguese writers as our Nobel Prize for Literature (1998) José Saramago. Visit to the imposing church of the Mafra Convent, largest baroque building in Portugal.
