Overview of your Lisbon tour
Fátima is located about one hour and fifteen minutes north of Lisbon and is one of the most important shrines of the world dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This Sanctuary welcomes millions of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world every year. The fame of this place is the result of the Apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary to three shepherd children Lúcia and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta that, between May and October of 1917, witnessed successive apparitions. The last one, on October 13th, was confirmed by a miracle witnessed by 70, 000 people. The small village where the children lived will take us back to the time of the apparitions and the houses that are still well kept will transport us to a simpler time, where we will be able to feel the magic of the area. We had a fantastic tour with Susana. For my wife, this was the highlight of our trip to the Iberian Peninsula, and Susana made it a special day by ensuring she saw the significant sites associated with the appearance of Our Lady of Fatima. In addition, we visited the homes of the children and met a relative who still lives in the small village where they were born and raised. Susana was on time picking us up at our hotel in Lisbon and safely delivered us back at the end of the day. She is highly knowledgeable about this area and filled us in on the background of this part of Portugal as we drove to Fatima. She has an excellent command of the English language and is very easy to understand. She had a degree in tourism, and this is her full-time profession. We strongly recommend her.
