Joao's agenda for the day was to show us the main areas of downtown Lisbon which required a good knowledge of the inner city and how to navigate it. He is an excellent driver and knows the city well. While he had a good English vocabulary, he was very difficult to understand and did not remember to speak loudly for the hard of hearing. His knowledge of history was good, and he had interesting facts about Lisbon and Portugal. Unfortunately, the only stops were at the Tagus River near the Vasco da Gama Tower, Praça do Comércio and Rue Augusta Arch, Parqu Eduardo VII yellow LISBOA letter sign and the Time Out Market in Lisbon. His van was equipped with a microphone and back-seat speakers, but he couldn’t make it work which made it difficult for him to communicate clearly. Joao was friendly and personable; however, it was not the best day of touring that we had.
