My tours are about bringing you into up-close and personal contact with all that makes the Yucatan so special. I try to avoid the cookie-cutter itineraries, usual-suspect attractions and anything - yawn - cliché. The unusual, the heart-wrenching, the melancholy and the joyful. Spontaneity and serendipity are our travel companions. I love to create memorable outings that are win-win-win. For you, for the people we meet, and yes, for me also! A Canadian Yucatecan (my Yucatecan wife and two daughters say I'm more Yucatecan than they are) who has lived in the Yucatan for almost 40 years. I am passionate about the area's colonial history, its' people, language and food. It is my special talent to act as the bridge between my guests from abroad and locals; from talented artisans to lovely ladies that will teach you how to properly make a corn tortilla by hand to enjoying a home-cooked meal in a small village. The experience will be one you won't soon forget. Thirty-plus-year Resident of the Yucatan Published Author - Yucatecan Spanish Dictionary BCIT Hotel Mgmt Program Serial Entrepreneur Tours at archaeological sites will be done by a professional guide hired on site for that purpose. A driver with a federal tourism drivers license will accompany us in a vehicle that has been properly plated for tourism as per local law.

The idea is to get away from the usual spots, away from traffic and crowds and really "dive deep" into what the Yucatan is all about. The south of the state remains very traditional and is not as heavily promoted as the area around Merida. So, less tourists and more real life. On this 3-day, loosely-structured tour we leave Merida to head southwards to the Yucatan-Quintana Roo-Campeche states border area, where we will visit an archeological site that is the last restored Mayan city on the Puuc route as well as spend some time exploring the hills and caves in the region. There is also a zip line, the Yucatan's longest, at 150 meters. History, from the state's colonial past will also be a part of this tour. Overnight, depending on availability we will stay in either a quiet rural home on a lush jungle property or a small hotel near our destination. This is a non-rushed tour that will give you a glimpse into Yucatan's rural life; spontaneity and serendipty are part of the experience.
Day 1 - Leisurely drive (with stops of interest) to the Oxcutzcab area and visit nearby caves. Zip line, hiking and cave exploration for about 4 hours or so. Dinner and then continue to our accommodations to refresh and relax. Day 2 - Visit the Chacmultun Mayan archeological site and discover this last outpost of the Puuc route city-states. Lunch with a lovely Mayan couple, return to our accommodations and relax. Day 3 - Travel day back to Merida with potential stops at Mayapan, Maní or wherever inspiration strikes. Activities are interchangeable for Day 1 and Day 2.
