Hello, I am Chiaki. I have been living in central Tokyo with my family for about 40 years. I love history, art, architecture, and dining, and I am pleased to share my knowledge as both a local and a professional. While I was in the UK, I began to view Japan from an outsider's perspective. I found Japanese culture to be interesting and attractive, encompassing its history, art, cuisine, and more, which has inspired me to become a guide interpreter. Tokyo is one of the world's largest cities, boasting an interesting mix of tradition and innovation, skyscrapers and gardens, artworks and technology, and more. It is also a paradise for foodies. Tokyo has all of these things in a very efficient and compact manner, with a friendly entrance and much complexity behind it. You can enjoy Tokyo for only half a day, but years might not be enough. I was born and raised in Izumo, a historic countryside in western Japan, and I also lived in the UK; however, I spent more than half of my life here in Tokyo. It means I know Tokyo very well, but I can view it from various perspectives. I am pleased to share my professional expertise, not only in Tokyo but also in many other parts of Japan, with my new friends from around the world. For when I am available, please check my half-day tour schedule. The tours would not be bookable if you specify the date within 3 days from now. If you would like to book me for tomorrow or the day after, please send me a message - I might be available. • National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English; Cert. No. EN04775; Registered to Tokyo; 2017). • Certified Domestic Itinerary Control Manager (Cert. No. 46-17-007; 2017). • Certified Domestic Travel Service Supervisor (Cert. No. 28-48-1807; 2016). • Qualified Curator (art; 2023). • MBA (UK) and BA in English Studies (Japan). • Teaching Marketing in a business school (for 5+ years; for details, ask when meeting in person). I mainly use public transportation and taxis when necessary in the Tokyo city center. I can also go with you in the vehicle you hired, or I can help you arrange a separate car and driver as a translator.

I am a foodie and love eating. On this tour, you will walk with me through small streets and sideways in the Tsukiji outer fish market area to enjoy a lot of small bites, including sweets - usually standing and eating, and sometimes sitting in a dining place. Lunch in the nearby local sushi restaurant and the food and small shopping in the market area are included in the tour price (up to 3, 500 yen total per person). You can also explore a 'depa-chika' in the nearby Ginza area, which I can say is a modern food market if the Tsukiji market area is a traditional one. Let's eat up Tokyo with me! Note: • This tour will not visit Toyosu Fish Market. • If any allergies or likes/dislikes of foods, it would be very kind if you let me know about it in advance, especially if you cannot eat raw fish/seafood. • The remaining balance of the food budget will be reimbursed by cash at the end of the tour.
We had a wonderful time. We highly recommend Chiaki.
Very fun and delicious tour. Chiaki met us at our hotel and took is to the fish market to sample many of the food stalls. She also made us reservations at a nice local sushi bar off the neaten path. Chiaki also made sure we were able to make it back to our hotel on the metro. She made herself available for any questions we had.
Chiaki is an excellent tour guide! She was on time meeting us in the hotel lobby and led us through the JR lines to the Tsukiji Hongan-ji Temple. She gave us a brief history of the temple and Tsukiji area before leading us through the busy fish market where we bought so many yummy snacks, dashi and enjoyed fresh oysters and tender grilled wagyu skewers. Chiaki chose a very good sushi bar for us to enjoy lunch and finally walked us back to Ginza to end the tour. Looking foward to my next tour with Chiaki. Thank you Chiaki for a memorable time!
Chiaki was a Great guide for a food tour through the small stalls in and around the giant food market. She knew the vendors very well and helps us navigate from smoked squid to wagyu as well ask knife and pottery vendors. The sushi place we went to for lunch was both simple and super high quality beautifully presented. In addition to all of this, she was wonderful about answering our questions before and after the tour on all sorts of topics. I would use Chiaki again in a flash.
I wish I could give Chiaki 10 stars. Honestly one of the best guides I have ever had. And the other people with me felt the same way. She is lovely and very easy to communicate with. She is bursting with information about Tokyo and Japan as a whole. We are going with her again tomorrow and looking forward to another fantastic day. If you have the opportunity to book a tour with Chiaki, do it!
Chiaki gave us a great tour, the sushi lunch was delicious. She even helped us by text after the tour was complete.
