Tokyo One-day Tour

Atsushi is an energetic licensed guide and is very knowledgeable regarding Japanese culture and history. He was in international business and came to the US often so he communicates extremely well in English. We throughly enjoyed the day, learned a lot, visited many sites on an itinerary he suggested. He answered many of our questions so we came away informed on Japan's history and even some points regarding current politics. (We asked about protesters we'd seen in several cities). We highly recommend him.

We greatly enjoyed our first tour of Tokyo. Our host (Atsushi) and guide immensely help our understanding of the city and its culture. We enjoyed the whole day and so glad we decided on choosing this tour and guide. I will definitely use Tours by Locals again on our many future adventures

We had a great time with Atsushi. Kayukawa-san is an excellent guide with a lot of knowledge and ability to pass it on. It was our first time in Tokyo and he took an excellent care of us. Also, if you’re a railway fan, Atsushi is the guide for you!

Atsushi is an exceptional tour guide, especially as an introduction to the fascinating city of Tokyo. Atsushi’s years of experience working in the corporate business world provided us with insight into how Tokyo functions and how its people live and work This experienced guide was able to weave us through underground passages that connect the massive and highly efficient Tokyo subway system. Through his guidance, we had the rare opportunity to walk through the emperor’s private gardens to witness cherry blossoms at their peak. We learned the meaning of the symbols of Shinto shrines., visiting several, both small and large. Atsushi provided us with an understanding and insight into traditional Japanese culture as it is embedded in modern day Tokyo. There is so much we were able to see and do because of this outstanding guide.
