We spent our first full day in Tokyo with Mitsuru, then the following day, we did the day trip out to Hakone. He was superb. Incredibly friendly, informative, easy-going and organized. On our first day, he took us to a half dozen great places in Tokyo - using a combination of bus, subway and walking. He then helped orient us to Tokyo Station and the bullet train system -since we were going to use the bullet trains throughout our trip, as well as the following day to get out to Odawara- where he met us to start the day tour of Hakone. Hakone was great...especially given that we lucked out with beautiful weather (for March) and were able to see Fuji in all its glory. The boat ride across Lake Ashi was fun...although a bit kitschy. However, the highlight of the day was the Hakone Open-Air Museum. This is a WORLD CLASS museum which has incredible sculptures by major artists (i.e. Henry Moore, etc.) as well as an entire building filled with Picassos. Totally unexpected...especially given that Hakone is really a small town. Overall, Mitsuru was one of the best guides we have ever spent time with. Highly recommend.
