I welcome you to Japan! Thank you for coming to my page. I'm Sumiko who would like to your Private Guide in Japan! I was born and brought up in Yamanashi -next to Tokyo, having viewed Mt. Fuji every day until the age of 18 and moved to Tokyo for the study in college. After I worked at the central bank of Japan for about ten years, I moved to Pittsburgh, USA from 1998 to 2000 because of my husband's work. During that period, I attended the English classes for English learners at the University of Pittsburgh or a community college, also had a son (he used to tell the difference between "L" and "R" sound when in the USA, not anymore. ) I have also a daughter who was born in Japan! Currently, I also tutor English for kids at a private school twice a week which starts after regular schools. So children are also welcome! I have guided many foreign tourists for the past several years. I had been a volunteer guide since 2011 and got the national license of the certified guide in 2016. So I am quite familiar with touristy places as well as some areas only locals know. Through my study or experiences as a tour guide, I rediscovered how Japan is traditional and new, complicated and simplified, friendly and modest. I hope to help you in understanding this interesting country with utmost "OMOTENASHI" or Japanese way of hospitality. To take your own tour with me, please contact me first. We will correspond and work out the very best tour for you! - National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English) - Certified Domestic Itinerary Control Manager - A member of the Institute for Japanese Culture Experience and Education (IJCEE) - Trained by and a member of the Japan Federation of Certified Guides (JFG) - Japanese Calligraphy grade 3 (dan) I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Now you see a picture from last year at Rikugien Japanese garden. It is very famous with this big old weeping cherry tree and it opens until 9:00 pm this time of the season. This is our last stop. First we'll go to Edogawa-bashi area. There're beautiful parks and old samurai garden and you can enjoy beautiful cherry blossom along Kanda River on the way to those areas. You can step in to the Japanese old house in the park and have matcha tea. After that we take the tram, which is the only Toden tram line left in Tokyo. The name of the tram is "Toden Sakura (cherry blossom) tram", so you are literary moving with cherry blossom! Then we'll stroll around Sugamo area, well known among Japanese as "Granny's Harajuku" , filled with old down town atmosphere. I am sure you will fall in love with the people there. After that, we will go to Rikugien Japanese garden by JR. This garden was originally designed by a high-ranking board member in Edo period (1695). ( You can stay here after we say good-bye. )
