This tour is perfect for first time visitors who would like to know the basics of Japanese culture & history and get to experience our public transportation system, like a true local. We will visit some of the city's main spots, covering both the east & west sides of Tokyo. In the former, you'll be able to try fresh seafood at Tsukiji fish market (the largest in the world!) and learn of Japanese buddhism at Sensoji temple. On the west part of the city, we'll visit its most important shrine (Meiji jingu) and walk across some of Tokyo's most popular streets (Takeshita street, Omotesando street, and the Shibuya crossing). As a Certified Tour Conductor, I will make sure you return home after truly getting to know what the real Tokyo looks and feels like.
This is a standard itinerary but feel free to choose the specific places you'd like to go and I'd be more than happy to arrange this tour exclusively for your personal plans. •We'd meet at your hotel lobby from where we'd go to the closest subway station and head to the Asakusa district. •Our first stop will be in Sensoji Temple, the oldest one in Tokyo. •A couple of hours later, we'll find ourselves in Tsukiji Fish Market, biggest seafood market on earth, where you could opt to have lunch in, either in any of its shops or in its restaurant venues. •Around 2 more hours after that, we'll visit Meiji Jingu, the most important shrine in Tokyo. •Roughly an hour later, we'll pass by Takeshita shopping street. •Half an hour later, we'll walk across Omotesando, a tree lined avenue in Tokyo's most expensive neighborhood. •An hour later, we'll reach Shibuya, the centre for youth fashion & culture, famous for the world's busiest street intersection. •We'll end our tour at your hotel or anywhere in Tokyo.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
