This tour is designed for travelers who want to have some introduction to Edo, today's Tokyo , but still have some time to explore on their own. We begin at Nezu Station on the Chiyoda Line. From here we walk to the Nezu Shinto shrine where we will learn about Shinto and the types of Shinto shrines. You will learn how to use the cleansing fountain. We discuss the architecture of shrines and the mythology important to Shinto. We also visit a beautiful Inari shrine, the most popular type of Shinto shrine in Japan. Next we pass through Sendagi to Yanaka. We learn about neighborhood associations that keep Tokyo clean and organized. We next visit an Edo-era chiogami paper shop where we see age-old patterns and designs still popular today. After a visit to Daien-ji temple we visit Yanaka Ginza shopping street on our way to Tenno-ji, Yanaka Bochi, Kan'e-ji near Ueno Park.
