Hello, I'm Yoko. I was born and brought up in Ashikaga, Tochigi prefecture which is about 80 km north of Tokyo and I've lived in Tokyo for more than 30 years. I used to work at computer companies as a systems engineer and a customer service representative in my younger days. After that I have worked as an English teacher for children in my neighborhood. I gained a license of English speaking tour guide in 2013 and I started the job in April, 2015. I love traveling both inside and outside Japan. I saw many beautiful scenery, met local people and learned various cultures on my travels. It's so interesting and enjoyable. At the same time I have realized Japan has many tourist attractions and a variety of unique cultures. And I'm sure Tokyo is a very attractive city for tourists. As you might know Tokyo is the biggest city in Japan and also one of the biggest cities all over the world. There are various attractions inside Tokyo, not only sightseeing spots, but also many kinds of restaurants, shops, cafes and so on. There are a wide variety in Japanese dishes and many of them are healthy and tasty. I am interested in Japanese culture (music, art and traditional performing arts such as Kabuki and Bunraku), historical buildings such as World heritage sites, Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines. Also I love seeing beautiful scenery and townscape. I like strolling around gardens, parks and some places where I can feel nature. So I'd like to take you to beautiful gardens and parks if you like. It would be great if I could help you exploring Tokyo during your stay in Japan. Please feel free to tell me your interest and preference for the tour. I hope you will have a memorable stay in Japan. I look forward to seeing you soon. Certified Tour Guide since 2013 (English - Cert.#EN03254) School Teacher's license for teaching English I don't drive during my tour. But I can arrange a private car upon your request.

Ashikaga is located 80km north Of Tokyo. The city has a lovely atmosphere with a lot of tourist attractions for relaxing. Ashikaga Flower Park is famous for its biggest wisteria in Japan. In 2014 the park has been chosen as one of the Dream destinations of 2014 by CNN. Ashikaga is my hometown, so I know the area very much and also I know when is the best season of Ashikaga Flower Park. Even if we miss the beautiful wisteria, the park has a lot of beautiful flowers attracting us. Besides the park, I'll take you to Ashikaga Gakko, the oldest school in Japan, and/or Bannaji temple, the national treasure of Japan. On the tour, you can enjoy a train ride (Tobu Express train or JR Shinkansen (the bullet train) and a local train), which might be interesting for you. I'm looking forward to seeing you!

We loved Yoko! She not only knew her way around but she was a lot of fun to be with. We wish we could have booked her for all our tours.
Absolutely brilliant. Beautiful wisteria. The best I've ever seen and Yoko is extremely thoughtful and kind. I highly recommend the tour. The journey from Tokyo was so complicated and I am so grateful to Yoko for her organisational skills!
Yoko-san arranged a great day for us. She took great care of the seniors so that all of us could enjoy. We managed to visit most famous spots in Ashikaga, and enjoyed the illumination very much. Yoko-san explained the history of Japan and the spots in good English and great patience. Lunch arrangement was superb. I very much appreciated for Yoko-san's help making my family have a great day in Ashikaga.
Before we left Australia Yoko was concerned we may be too early for the wisteria. She offered other tours that might be more enjoyable for us. We decided to stay with Ashikaga. The early warm weather meant the wisteria was early. We had a superb day. Yoko was everything you could wish for in a guide. She answered all of our questions along the way, took us to an excellent place for lunch, was there when we needed her and gave us privacy to roam alone when asked. Highly recommend this tour and Yoko.
Yoko provided us with exactly the tour we wanted. Her English is excellent and the timing of the tour was perfect - everything ran like clockwork. We enjoyed her insights and the mix of the Shinkansen, Japanese Lunch (an excellent regular and vegetarian menu), tours of two temples (one with a splendid ancient Ginko tree - a sight to behold) plus the Wisteria gardens was perfect for us. We very much enjoyed the tour/day.
Here is a sample itinerary. 8:30 - 9:30 - I'll meet you at your hotel (depends on where you'll stay and which train we will take - Tobu line or JR line - please let me know if you have JR pass or not, in advance) 11:00 - arrive at Ashikaga and we'll go to Ashikaga Gakko and/or Bannaji temple 12:00 - lunch at a restaurant 14:00 - Ashikaga Flower Park 15:30 - going back to Tokyo 18:00 - finish our tour at your hotel The above is a basic itinerary, but I'm happy to arrange the itinerary for you. Please be noted that there might be some changes in the itinerary in the best season of wisteria.
