Hello and bonjour! (Le français suit l'anglais. ) My name is Yumi, and I'm a nationally licensed tour guide and interpreter based in Tokyo, Japan. I've guided tourists from overseas since 2009 throughout Japan, especially in the Kanto region, including trips around the Greater Tokyo Area (such as Kamakura), Mt. Fuji, Hakone National Park and the Nikko UNESCO World Heritage Site. I was born and raised on Kyushu, the southernmost of Japan's four main islands, and I lived in the Kansai area (Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe) for five years. I came to Tokyo in 1999 and have been here ever since. I love Japan and have lots of information about my country's history and culture to share with you. Nikko is located 115km north of Tokyo. One of famous visiting sites, Nikko Toshogu Shrine is dedicated to a great Shogun of Edo period Ieyasu Tokunaga (1542-1616) seated at Shogun position 1603-1605, which is designated as World Heritage Site as well as Rinnoji temple and surrounding natures like Kegon Falls and Chuzenji Lake. We visit this marvelous shrine and temple and enjoy magnificent view of beautiful nature of Nikko.
It was a wonderful experience! Yumi was very organized, knowledgeable and incredibly professional. My whole family (children 22 & 25) had a memorable experience. She was also helpful and caring. Took incredible pictures! She really wanted us to have a good time and learn about her culture. We did 2 whole day tours with her: Hakone & Nikko. The drivers that she arranged both times were great. I definitely will use her services again!
Yumi was an excellent guide. We were glad to have her help in navigating the public transit to Nikko from Tokyo, and then had an amazing time sightseeing through the town and local mountains during a heavy snow fall. In Nikko she arranged for a driver and van for our party of 5, and the driver was an enjoyable gentleman who also added color to the trip. The sights were gorgeous, the snow was fun, and we had a great time. I highly recommend Yumi as a guide.
This was 2nd time with Yumi. 1st was on last visit and we went to Five Lakes. This time she took us to Nikko which was breathtaking. Sacred bridge, Gorge, Lake, etc. Always the professional, she took care of everything...train tickets, private van, etc. The driver was from Nikko and was excellent. Afterwards, she helped us with other aspects of our trip. She loves to email you even after her "tour" is over. She is a great guide - THE BEST!
This was our 3rd tour with Yumi and it was the best - one reason being we hired a car/driver. She had a good tour route, kept us informed about the sites, and completed the nicely paced tour. The driver assisted Yumi with local information to share with us. She is personable and friendly and has a good command of English - although not fluent in our estimation. She was very helpful arranging our transportation for the next day and getting our train tickets. We enjoyed her presence and would recommend her.
Good guide and good english
If you are looking for a guide for Tokyo and the surrounding areas, look no further. Yumi is THE BEST! 3 couples spent a few days prior to our cruise with Yumi. We traveled to Nikko for a marvelous introduction to the natural beauty surrounding the big city. With Yumi's guidance, we took the subway and train before picking up our private taxi van. We visited the Divine Bridge, the awesome Kanmagafuchi abyss, the Kegon waterfalls and enjoyed a delicious lunch in the mountains. Yumi's English is excellent
