Mt. Takao - Private Hiking Tour

Our hike with Hideki up Mt. Takao was a true highlight of our trip to Japan! He met us at the designated train station and clearly explained the plan for our day together including the routes we would take up and down the mountain as well as stopping to share significant information about places we saw along the way. We shared a lovely lunch together at the top, and we were lucky enough to see Mt. Fuji in the distance. Something I didn't expect but am so thankful for is that Hideki served as our personal photographer, making sure we captured images and important memories from the day. What a wonderful bonus! He was very considerate and also helped us figure out which train to take back to Tokyo. Our time with Hideki felt more like a visit with an old friend, not just a tour guide.

This is not the tour we ended up doing due to medical issues with one of our group. We changed the entire day and it suited us perfectly. It was so nice to have the flexibility to do that last minute! We went to a shrine and then to Ginza, so we merged old and new which was a great contrast.

We did this hike on our first full day in Tokyo and met Hideki at the JR Takao station. We had a great day touring the Mt Takao area, first riding the steepest sloped cable car, then hiking Trail 1 to the summit, having lunch, returning via Trail 4 with Miyama Bridge, and back to the Kiyotaki Station Square via the chair lift (that was an experience!). Throughout our day, Hideki explained what we were passing such as the tako-sugi, the delineation between the east and west climate zones, the relica stupa, the 108 steps, etc. Despite a bit of jet lag, we enjoyed our hike and spending time with Hideki. Great guide!

This tour was far more fascinating than we expected and Hideki was the perfect guide! We thought we were just walking up a mountain, but when we saw all the shrines and nature on the mountain we were in awe by both the sites and history. Hideki really made the tour better, he was kind, cheerful, and when he told us the history of the shrines on the mountain, he brought the stories to life that helped captivate us. I would definitely do this tour again, and Hideki is such a great guy, a true model human being.

This is my 3 day with Hideki. I had 2 full days of Tokyo Tour with him (which I can highly recommend!) & very spontaneous the Tour to Mount Takao. Thank you Hideki for making this possible! I had a perfect day! He told me a lot of history & explained me everything. He took a lot of pictures & we had a lot of fun. I can highly recommend Hideki for any tour. If he is available he would be an excellent choice! We could also see Mount Fuji on this day! It was a perfect day with enjoying nature & good food.

A day spent outside Tokyo hiking Mt. Takao was magical. Be prepared for lots and lots of steps but also the wonders of nature. My husband and I are 70 and 73 and we were able to do the climb. Hediki , our guide, was wonderful and knew so much about the trail and the shrines along the way. He took lots of pictures for us and guided us back to our hotel even though it was out of his way. I can highly recommend Hediki for any tour. We spent 2 days with him and feel like he is a member of our family.
