Hello, I'm Yoko. I was born and brought up in Ashikaga, Tochigi prefecture which is about 80 km north of Tokyo and I've lived in Tokyo for more than 30 years. I used to work at computer companies as a systems engineer and a customer service representative in my younger days. After that I have worked as an English teacher for children in my neighborhood. I gained a license of English speaking tour guide in 2013 and I started the job in April, 2015. I love traveling both inside and outside Japan. I saw many beautiful scenery, met local people and learned various cultures on my travels. It's so interesting and enjoyable. At the same time I have realized Japan has many tourist attractions and a variety of unique cultures. And I'm sure Tokyo is a very attractive city for tourists. As you might know Tokyo is the biggest city in Japan and also one of the biggest cities all over the world. There are various attractions inside Tokyo, not only sightseeing spots, but also many kinds of restaurants, shops, cafes and so on. There are a wide variety in Japanese dishes and many of them are healthy and tasty. I am interested in Japanese culture (music, art and traditional performing arts such as Kabuki and Bunraku), historical buildings such as World heritage sites, Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines. Also I love seeing beautiful scenery and townscape. I like strolling around gardens, parks and some places where I can feel nature. So I'd like to take you to beautiful gardens and parks if you like. It would be great if I could help you exploring Tokyo during your stay in Japan. Please feel free to tell me your interest and preference for the tour. I hope you will have a memorable stay in Japan. I look forward to seeing you soon. Certified Tour Guide since 2013 (English - Cert.#EN03254) School Teacher's license for teaching English I don't drive during my tour. But I can arrange a private car upon your request.

If you're interested in traditional Japanese places, Kamakura is one of the best destinations to go. Kamakura used to be the samurai capital in the 12th century and it still has a beautiful atmosphere attracting a lot of tourists and locals. The city boasts numerous Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, and historical places. Kamakura is also blessed with beautiful nature - surrounded by mountains and sea. You can also enjoy a street with a lot of lovely restaurants, shops and cafes if you like. Kamakura is one of my favorite places, so I'd love to take you to the beautiful place and share a blissful time with you.
Excellent tour. Well organized, informative and highly enjoyable. Highly recommend!!
4 of us recently spent 2 days with Yoko (Tokyo &Kamakura) prior to a Japan cruise. I had booked many months in advance and am so glad I did! She's busy for a reason! Yoko was prompt in replying and we worked out tours just right for us. She arranged a delicious lunch in a beautiful restaurant with a great view of the city. It was Spring Break and Cherry Blossom season so Yoko forewarned us of the crowds. Her friendly manner and perfect English were just the right combo. Her knowledge of the sites and the history of Japan were so interesting and she knew just where to shop! We have used Tours By Local in many countries over the years and their guides never disappoint. I would rank Yoko among the best we've ever had and highly recommend her. Thank you Yoko for starting our trip off perfectly! After two days, we felt like we were saying goodbye to an old friend.
Great tour! Yoko met us at our ship and we headed off using public transit to Kamakura,- which was so fun and interesting. Saw so many sights, had a great meal at a truly local restaurant and she got back to the ship on time. Fabulous day!
Yoko was a fantastic tour guide. We booked her for 2 days. She provided great communications, answering questions and providing input to develop a custom tour. She did all of this many weeks before we arrived in Tokyo. Her attention to detail and knowledge of sights were first rate. Her innate ability to find out what we needed during the tour help us a great deal. Her suggestion on restaurants was fantastic. Her organization of train tickets, the layout of activities and timing of those activities was 1st rate . Yoko is a fantastic tour guide and would use her again when returning to Tokyo .
This was just a wonderful day in Kamakura, a lovely city about 40 minutes outside of Tokyo, but what a treat. We visited several Buddhist temples and a Shinto shrine., had a delicious lunch too. She had asked prior to us coming if we had an allergies to food, which was great, and planned accordingly if there was. Yoko was a wonderful guide, always making sure things were okay, especially because it was very hot when we went. This was actually a good time, as there were less crowds than the popular times, although cherry blossom time is supposed to be exceptional. Any questions we asked, she would answer for us and she would find out if she didn’t know. It was also a great way to experience some of the rituals involved with these places. Definitely a great guide and wonderful person to spend a day with.
Amazing guide - she was so flexible, and wonderful with our kids -- even in the incredibly strong heat -- we had a blast. She was wonderful!!!
