I’ve been living in Japan for more than 10 years, and in that time, Tokyo has truly become my home. My journey as a guide actually started back when I was a student in Hiroshima, where I began showing visitors around in my free time. After moving to Tokyo, I continued guiding alongside my work as a schoolteacher. Teaching gave me the chance to experience the real culture of Japan — not just the surface, but the everyday life, traditions, and values that shape this country. For me, guiding is not just about showing famous places. I design every tour to reflect my guests’ interests, whether it’s exploring historic temples, tasting local street food, or discovering hidden corners of Tokyo that most tourists never see. Most importantly, I don’t see the people I guide as “clients.” I welcome them as my guests, and my goal is always to make them feel at home while experiencing the beauty and culture of Japan.
