Hello and thank you for taking the time to take a look at my profile! I am an officially licensed National Tour Guide (plus Vatican city licensed) with an art history bachelor's degree and I truly love to share my knowledge and passion for this magnificent country. As well as being a true Roman (born here and lived here most of my life) with an in-depth knowledge of what this unique city has to offer, I am fully fluent in English since I have also lived many years in the U. K. First in Cambridge where acquired my bachelor degree followed by a loving time in London for a total of more then 10 years where I also acquired much experience in the tourism field. I am also half Swedish from my mother's side which makes me not only fluent is Swedish but the perfect bridge of cultures between the northern Anglo-Saxon, Scandinavian and the passionate Latin ones. Since my return to the eternal city I have acquired the official license as a tour guide which allows me to legally practice throughout this wonderful country and the Vatican city. Since 2022 I have also started working as one of the office tour guides for the American Embassy in Italy based here in Rome. Through this collaboration I have had the privilege and honor of touring with many political figures such as Ambassadors, Senators during their State Visits. It was true a personal privilege touring with Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House during her State Visit in 2022. I live in the Trastevere neighbourhood which is the most authentic of all full of romance and history…. the real soul of Rome! With over thousand of years of history, you never run out of things to see in what once used to be the "caput mundi" or 'capital of the world'. A fascinating journey through the 2nd largest Museums in the world. I will take you through the highlights of the most prestigious galleries of the Vatican Museums such and its beautiful courtyards to then reach the glorious Sistine Chapel, highlighted by Michelangelo's masterpieces. From here we have a special direct skip the line passage through the Scala Regia that will lead us directly into St. Peter's Basilica. A treasure of precious works of art such as the Pietà by Michelangelo and the theatrical altar of the king of the Baroque Gian Lorenzo Bernini. We will end the tour in Saint Peter's square. Mathilda was a WONDERFUL guide. No way we'd have enjoyed the Vatican nearly as much without her. She was highly informative, fun, and super pleasant. She seemed to have the magic touch with guards everywhere and was able to get us around crowds and lines on one of the busiest days of the year. Just a great experience all around. Could not recommend her more highly.
We would give her 10 stars if possible. Fun, knowledge, easy mannered. We definitely will use her again upon our return.
Mathilda was amazing! We toured with her twice during our visit to Rome. She is incredibly knowledgeable and made all of the history of Rome come alive with her charm and storytelling. We were a family of five, with ages ranging from 16 to 79, and each person found their time with Mathilda educational and fun! You must see Rome with Mathilda!
We had an amazing time with Mathilde. Her knowledge and love of the Vatican was apparent. She kept our young adults fully engaged and interested! We learned things and interesting facts that we had never learned on prior tours. She is an amazing tour guide and I highly recommend any tour with her!
Without Mathilda's guidance the Vatican would have been too overwhelming for us. She gave a great insight to St Peter's Basilica and the details within and also to the museums. I highly recommend her.
The Round Room, the Pine-cone courtyard, the Candelabras Gallery, The Chariot Room, the Tapestries Gallery, Simonetti Staircase, the Room of Muses, the Maps Gallery, the Octagonal Bramante Courtyard, the Simonetti Staircase and the Sistine Chapel. The last stop is St. Peter's Basilica, where we'll use a special skip the line access door to enter directly into the Basilica. Here you will be amazed by Michelangelo's famous Pietà and his Dome, by Bernini's bronze baldachin, among other masterpieces and religious sights. We will end at St. Peter's Square to view the head quarters of the Pope and the amazing Bernini's Colonnades. IMPORTANT: Small size backpacks are allowed.
