The painter and sculptor Umberto Boccioni helped to shape the Futurism an avant-garde movement founded in Milan and when 1910 he painted "the city rises" he couldn't imagine that about one century afterwards instead of brownfield you could have seen the complex of exciting buildings that has forever changed the city's skyline. This is called by the Milanese "la città che sale", the rising Milan, and 2012 has become the symbol of the Milan of today. The two new districts were erected next to the very spot where the sixteen century Spanish city walls used to be and are recalled by the city gate Porta Garibaldi. Walking one minute down you find the Leonardo da Vinci's locks that he designed for the Martesana Canal and after sipping a coffee or an aperitivo you come across the Milan's best preserved early Christian monument, the Basilica of San Simpliciano (4th century). The city where I was born and raised, it is a pure combination of contrasts and stratifications!
-The Porta Nuova and Garibaldi districts -The Leonardo da Vinci's locks -The Basilica of S. Simpliciano PLEASE NOTE: if I pick you up at your hotel which must be in the historical centre the route may vary.

It's a walking tour, if the meeting point is at your hotel though, a taxi or private car may be required and in this second case I can provide a professional driver and a high quality vehicle registered for passenger transport to be booked in advance.
