Hi and welcome to Florence! My name is Silvia and I've been working as a professional Tour Guide for almost 20 years. I work mainly in Florence but I'm licensed also for Prato and its district. My big passion and interest for art and local history started thanks to my "babbo" (as we call our dads in Tuscany), as at home I grew up surrounded by books about Florence (he has always been a compulsive reader and so am I). I started reading about the Etruscans and the Romans, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the Medicis and Michelangelo… and so when I finally had the chance to attend the class for becoming an official local guide I went for it! The course lasted 300 hours and included all different things: archeology, art, history, botany, folklore, tourism legislation etc I happily passed the exam and since then I've been working as a guide in Florence and Prato, allowing me the chance to show some of the most famous artworks to people coming from all over the world. This is still something that gets me emotional and makes me feel very grateful. As for the tours I can offer there's really a wide choice but I think the ones not to be missed are those including Michelangelo's David or the Botticelli's paintings in the Uffizi. But even just walking in the streets of Florence - with its narrow cobbled alleys, its medieval towerhouses - it's a neverending discovery and sometimes a total surprise, especially with a local guide that can show you its best kept secrets. I have a large experience with private and small groups, including families and solo travelers. Besides I love traveling and I love cooking (actually I love eating more then cooking :)) and I recently focused on planning new tours in Florence related to food and local traditions. So, if you're planning to visit and would like to do that with a passionate and knowledgeable guide contact me, I'd be honored to show you around my wonderful city! Licensed tour guide in Florence and Prato, and both districts. Diploma at Liceo Linguistico N. Copernico in Prato Degree at Scuola Superiore per Interpreti e Traduttori in Florence University degree in Art History Even if my calendar shows no availability, feel free to get in touch. I can organize private transportation by private car and driver. Just to clarify, I only arrange hotel or port pick-up and drop-off through the driver. I will meet you at the meeting point. For easy communication on the day of the tour, I suggest downloading WhatsApp on your smartphone.

We'll start at the Academy Gallery, home of the original David. In the museum, you'll admire the breathtaking statue made by Michelangelo in 1501 from every perspective and you'll learn also about the other famously unfinished Prigioni and San Matteo. We'll head to the Duomo complex, composed of Giotto's bell tower, the Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore with its stunning dome, and the octagonal-shaped Baptistery. Afterward, we will walk to Piazza della Repubblica, where the Roman Forum was, and continuing along via dei Calzaiuoli we'll arrive in Piazza della Signoria, the political headquarters of the city. So many things to admire there: with the imposing beauty of Palazzo Vecchio and the ancient statues still present in the square the Piazza is a real open-air museum! We'll reach then the Uffizi Gallery, a definite must-see when visiting Florence.
