Benvenuti alla Dolce Vita! Brilliant licensed art and history guide, PhD, with two decades guide experience in Florence, the Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Venice, Rome, the Vatican, Pompeii, the Amalfi coast and Sicily - all the regions connected in culture and history, a combination of sea and land - I enjoy sharing my love for them with others. I'll plan your itinerary, arrange skip-the-line museum tickets, a minivan with private driver and a boat ride, show you the hidden beauties of Florence, take you to my favorite local restaurant and on the most panoramic hike, talk art, history, Italian life and politics, and can even cook for you a Sicilian meal. Pleasure in life must be holistic - and Italy is an ideal country for this. My tours of Florence are outstanding - my experiences of Tuscany and the Cinque Terre are sublime - my Venice is passionate like Casanova - my Rome is layered like a delicious cake - and my Sicily is breathtaking. I am driven by passion for local Italy, my home over the past 25 years. Here, I studied in Rome and Florence, worked in Parma, the Cinque Terre and Tuscany, and of course fell in love - in Sicily. It's this pleasure, careful research and local knowledge that I'm happy to share on tour. What to expect from my tours? Expect more and better! A watermelon popping out from my backpack in the middle of a spectacular hike, a memorable love abduction story from a Medieval monastery, a delicious seafood meal, a marble quarry worthy of Michelangelo, and wine tasting in the villa of Mona Lisa. Guiding is one of the most creative activities, where each guest is a chance to discover the place anew, adding a unique feature to each visit. I enjoy creating your custom itinerary, preparing every detail, adding local insight, taking you to places as varied as a panoramic trail above Portofino, a secret temple of Mithras, a private road of the Popes, a gondola shipyard, or a prehistoric village in Sicily. And in winter I indulge in researching new destinations and itineraries in Italy, now also official Vatican Museums guide license since 2025! For an even more unique and local experience, please ask my advice on where to stay, eat, and how to travel within Italy, share the interests, ideas and details you wish to be included on tour. The more I know about your taste and plans the better I can prep and serve Italy for you :) Welcome to the Dolce Vita! - Official art history guide license (800 hours compulsory coursework, state exam) valid throughout Italy including UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Florence, Venice, Rome, Siena, Pisa, Tuscany, the Cinque Terre, Portofino, Pompeii, Sicily, Umbria, and more!). - Official art and history guide license for the Vatican City including the Vatican gardens, the Sistine Chapel, Museums and St. Peter's basilica, the Summer resodence of the Popes, Papal basilicas in Rome. - PhD (European University Institute) - The last guide still resident in the oldest part of Florence and in a real 900 yo Medieval tower! - 20 years guide experience - Published book author (Oxford, Hart Publishing). I am a licensed guide, not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle, arrange for a private driver or public transport. I do not service cruise passengers. My museum and city guide license is for English, Italian, Russian and French languages only. I deliver tours in Pompeii, Herculanum, Paestum, Rome, the Vatican City, all of Lazio, all of Tuscany, Florence, Siena, Pisa, the Cinque Terre, Portofino, Venice, Ravenna, Orvieto, all of Umbria, Assisi, all of Sicily.

Overview of your Florence tour

Yes, the Uffizi gallery is filled with masterpieces: Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Titian, Caravaggio, Ancient Roman sculptures, Medici portraits, intriguing grotesques and a unique building site. But on my tour, they become illustrations to the history and passions of Florence, the Renaissance business ambitions, the secret lives of their owners, hidden messages, and a witness to our lost grandeur. We'll situate the most important works of the Italian Renaissance in time, business and politics of Italy to discover the personalities of artists and their patrons. We'll talk about mythology, Renaissance art and passions, Christian thought and how it was depicted in art, discover techniques of painting and even the prices of works. We'll admire some "obscene" masterpieces as well as "flawless" works. One of my favorite highlights is the mystery of Michelangelo's Tondo Doni - a real "Da Vinci code". Brilliant licensed art and history guide, book author and PhD: expect an outstanding tour!

Touring one of the world's great museums with a PhD Art Historian is a real treat. The Uffizi is an enormous space and could easily consume an entire day(s). Anna was great to guide us see the important parts of the museum and, importantly, help us to bypass the exhibits that can be missed or seen on a future visit. We spent 3 hours at the museum left totally delighted. As the tour was just my wife, myself and Anna it really felt like touring with a family member who also happens to be an art genius. It is by far the best way to tour the Uffizi. Watching large groups around us with headsets and tour flag we really came to appreciate the personal touch and contact. Anna is an excellent hostess and guide. Whichever tour you book her for you will be delighted.

Anna is an outstanding tour guide. Her knowledge base is broad and she shares many interesting facts beyond the tour description. In addition, Anna's command of the English language is outstanding, as she spent several years in the United States, which also enabled Anna to compare cultures. Anna got a wheel chair to help me see the paintings easily and comfortably, due to my mobility issues. The highlights Anna showed me were explained in excellent detail. I highly recommend Anna as your guide. She exceeded expectations.

Had a great tour with Anna. We stuck with the highlights of the museum, but she offered to focus on any period or pieces that we requested. She connected many of the dots, and connected the pieces together so they all made sense in the timeline of the paintings. Great job!

Anna really looked after our interests and comfort on this tour. The size and crowds in the Uffizi Gallery are overwhelming and can make any visit unpleasant. The crowds were still there but Anna found out from us what we wanted to see and expertly navigated around the crowds and made sure we didn't miss out. We saw the masterpieces that really interested us and Anna gave expert explanations that brought the art to life. Time flew. A great experience enhanced by Anna's expert guidance.
