I'm a licensed tour guide for Florence and Lucca. I was born in Connecticut, USA, but since 1998, I have been living in Florence, with my husband - a native Florentine. I have a BA degree in Art History and Fine Arts from Bennington College and I studied Restoration in Florence at the Istituto di Arte e Restauro Palazzo Spinelli from 1987 to 1989. My tours are all private - not shared- so I can modify an existing itinerary or make a Custom Tour specifically for you. Tell me about your interests and we can go from there. Over the years I've acquired a vast knowledge of Florence and Lucca's history, art and folklore, as well as a real inside view of Italian life today! Along with local history and art, there are so many wonderful and curious stories to tell that bring the past to life and explain the present. You'll come away with a wonderful experience having learned a lot in a fun and memorable way. Along with my passion for art and history, I also love gardens and gardening. Both Florence and Lucca have extraordinary gardens that will amaze any garden or nature enthusiast. Italy is also food and wine! Wine and olive oil tastings are quite the rage and there are no shortages of places where you can stop in and discover the flavors and aromas of Italy - and of course a cup of espresso or cappuccino! I look forward to hear from you soon and sharing my love for Florence and Lucca with you on a great tour! All the Best! Licensed Tour Guide for Florence and Lucca and their provinces. Diploma in Restoration Studies Istituto per L'Arte e il Restauro, Palazzo Spinelli, Florence, Italy (Accredited by the Region of Tuscany) Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Fine Arts and Art History. (Bennington College, Bennington, Vermont, USA) I am not a driver/NCC.

Wonderful day. Laura knows her stuff and communicates in an interesting fashion, and has fun doing it! Recommend her highly!
Our small group of 6 had an excellent time touring Florence with Laura. We had 3 people who had never been to Florence, and wanted to do this initial tour so they could get their bearings, and learn about the history of Florence. Laura was extremely well informed with respect to the city and it's history, and walked us though the different parts of the city - including sections that tourists may not find. It was a great introduction, and set the group up well for the next few days of exploring. Laura was also very personable, friendly and easy to understand and tour with. Highly recommended, we enjoyed it!
Laura provided an excellent walking tour to the history of Florence, and touched on so many points of interest that I hadn’t seen in other guidebooks. Her ability to build the timeline for the development of Florence, and the families and empires that influenced it, all the way back to the Roman and Byzantine empires was really compelling. She made Rome to speak with each person on our group individually as we walked, answering a myriad of questions from the construction of buildings to the political history of some of the families. I know my experience of Florence would not be as rich without the information shared by Laura. She was terrific and our whole group felt they got something special from the stories she shared.
Laura is an engaging and entertaining tour guide. My wife and I enjoyed our tour, learned a lot, and feel closer to the city. We definitely recommend Laura.
Our walking tour with Laura was wonderful! She has great knowledge and passion for the art, history, and culture of Florence. We were a group of six and she provided earpieces for us to use, which made it very easy for all of us to clearly hear her even when we got slightly separated walking in the crowds. I highly recommend Laura for your tour. Scott
