Bologna to Rimini & San Marino - Full Day Tour

We took a day trip to San Marino and had a guided tour of the city with a Tours By Locals couple that we met up with in Bologna after taking an early morning train there from Florence. Cecilia and Eddie were very nice and we struck up a friendship with them over the course of the journey, Cecilia was our guide and fluent in several languages. They had been to Flagstaff years before and have a daughter currently attending Ohio State University and a son who studied Physics at the University of Bologna, so we had quite a few common threads to unravel. They promised to visit us the next time they're in the US and we're looking forward to it. Cecilia met us as we got off the train in Bologna and they drove us to San Marino for most of the day, and then through Rimini on the Mediterranean coast, where we stopped for a dip in the sea, and finally back to Bologna. We toured all of these areas and visited Basilicas in each, they fed us lunch at a very nice seafood place on the beach in Rimini and took us to our train back to Florence in Bologna. Turns out the train was delayed an hour but Cecilia pulled a rabbit out of her hat and got our tickets switched to another train that ended up leaving 20 minutes earlier than our previous one had been originally scheduled to depart. We never could have figured out the logistics of this on our own and it was only because she accompanied us all the way to our boarding that this worked out, she was a gem and saved us about an hour and a half with this magic.

This was an excellent day! I wasn't quite sure what to expect on my day tour to San Marino and Rimini, but it was certainly better than I hoped for. We had a lovely time in San Marino walking through the streets and learning about what happened there, and then Cicilia was very accommodating for doing some shopping with my wife. Then going to Rimini was SUPER interesting, it is a spot that I had read about, but seeing it was so cool. We had a lovely lunch on the seaside, walked the beach a bit, and explored the town. And, once again, Cicilia was very patient and helpful in letting us get some great shopping in. We had such a lovely time and I would definitely recommend this to others who want to get out of the city and see something completely different.

Wonderful tour- with beautiful views in San Marino and amazing Rimini! Cecelia was our perfect guide who made our day extremely special with suggestions on great restaurants and even the best gelato anywhere along with a knowledge of the area’s history and most important sites to visit!! Would love to tour with Cecelia again!

We had a fabulous day with Cecelia! She is not only knowledgeable with excellent English, but is also just a lovely person to spend a day with. We had a great time in San Marino, as well as a delicious lunch at a waterside restaurant near Rimini.

Cecilia was very accommodating before and during our tour. We were a group of 8 and she arranged for a larger vehicle for our group. Once we started the tour, we wanted to spend a bit more time in San Marino (which meant we had a bit less time in Rimini) and that was no problem for Cecilia. We were not always together in our group when she started explaining the history and/or architecture, but she would then try to privately give the explanation to the stragglers/picture takers. If we had not started our package tour the following day, I would have used Cecilia as our tour guide in Bologna.

I cannot say enough good things about this tour. First, Cecilia worked with us on a small change in the logistics, which was very helpful. The sights included on this tour were spectacular. Cecilia knew the best places from which to view the towers in San Marino. She took us to a cool restaurant in Rimini where we could see the beach and water. The sights included on this tour are great. Cecilia's expertise, demeanor, and kindness contributed to this being one of the best tours on our trip.
