Excuse me, do you know maybe where are the most amazing and interesting sights in Hungary? No? Then you are at the right spot, to find them with me! Hello there traveller and my future friend! My name is Petra, like the city in Jordan. I'm an experienced tour guide since 2015 and also licensed tour guide in the largest European Synagogue. I speak fluent English and in any case of necessity my Spanish can help me to survive and of course, I'm a native speaker of the fourth most difficult language in the world; Hungarian. I'm energetic, enthusiastic, a history nerd and I love to talk. I was also thinking about opening a private class of dad jokes, they are my favorite, the worse the better, and like every Hungarian, I speak the second official language of this country: sarcasm. Overview of your Budapest tour
When you are in Budapest, do as the locals do. What is the best way, you ask? Walking, walking, eating, and more walking! As a local guide, my favorite activities are walking a lot, enjoying amazing sights, and talking a lot about them. It's naturally not surprising, for me Budapest is the best place in the world. At the end of this 4 hours long walking tour with me, I believe, you would also find this city your favorite vacation place as well. On the tour we will see the main historical attractions starting with the St. Stephen's Basilica then we go through the heart of Budapest, and the cherry on top is the best panorama points on the hilly Buda side. Meet me as your guide in the beginning and finish the tour with a new Hungarian friend. You will know where is the best goulash, which is the best non-touristic sights, why we are the capital of thermal water and which is the best bath, and last but not least you will perfectly pronounce the most important Hungarian word: Egészségedre!

I had a long walking tour of Budapest with Petra on July 8, 2026. She met me at my hotel and she was right on time. We walked several miles at a good pace while she shared with me the history and sights of Budapest, one of the loveliest cities in the world. We had a wonderful conversation and I learned a lot while seeing everything. One of things I really like about Tours by Locals which I have used in several countries over the years is that the guides have personalities and lived experiences of the cities where they are guiding. Petra was no exception to that excellent tradition. She knew Budapest's long history and culture personally so I not only learned the facts but heard some great back stories that illuminated what I was seeing. Petra is also very witty and funny. It felt more like I was walking with an old friend from college who was showing me her hometown. I highly recommend a tour from Petra and, as always, from Tours by Locals.

My wife, Reneé and I really enjoyed Petra! She has a very welcoming personality. We talked very easily for our four hour tour. Very knowledgeable about the sights and history of the city and country. My wife is 5’2” and has a small stride. Reneé asked Petra to slow her stride so she could keep up. Not a problem at all! It was a chilly day and after a couple hours, we needed a warm up. She took us to a place she really likes and had a wonderful conversation. It was lovely! We cannot recommend Petra enough for your tour in Budapest!
Your Budapest tour itinerary
- First, we meet at your accommodation or wherever you prefer. - The start of the tour is going to be the city center area with Elisabeth Square, Deák Square, and City Hall Square to get a full picture of the main local meeting point of Budapest. - Secondly, we go to the St Steven's Basilica which we visit inside. - Our next destination which we reach on foot is the Hungarian Parliament. Here we can learn more about the 20th century's Hungarian history. Outer visit. - Then we take the metro to reach Buda from Pest. - We use a bus to go up to Buda Castle Hill, to get acquainted with the Middle Age history of Hungary. We visit Matthias Church (outer) and Fisherman Bastion. Besides St Steven's Basilica's panorama terrace, you can take the best pictures of the city from the area of Buda Castle. In case you have any special requests, the tour is customizable.
