Wine tour to Tokaj
Overview of your Budapest tour
Tokaj is a world-famous white wine region best known for its "aszú" wines which are made from botrytized shriveled grapes. This is "the best sweet wine in the world". The region was declared a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. We are going to look at a vineyard and you can taste wine in the cellar. You will have a chance to have lunch, as well. Afterwards our tour will take us to Mád. This cosy village is well-known for wine and its Jewish heritage. It is a good example how peacefully the Christians and the Jews could live and work together for many hundred years. We can visit the recently renovated synagogue and an exhibiton of the local Jewish traditions before you taste wine in a cellar here, too.
