Dear Traveller, Welcome to my site and thanks for stopping by! My name is Melinda and I am a licensed tour guide for Hungary. I'm very lucky as my job is also my passion. . . I have been guiding for years, I have worked with reputable companies such as Viking, Tauck, Scenic, AValon, AMA Waterways, etc. However, my favourite tours are the ones with smaller groups and guiding individual travellers- there is more personal touch, plenty of time for chatting, so the trip can be a more memorable and unique experience. I am a keen traveller myself, too, I had the wonderful opportunity to live in Turkey and Italy for a while, great experience which I will never forget. I am definitely not an office person. I enjoy being out and about the whole day, feeling the athmosphere of the city, walking in the picturesque cobbled streets of downtown Budapest and the countryside, sharing my stories with others. I am a flea-market goer, keen on antiques and I also paint. I have a WSET qualification in Hungarian wines so I will happily discuss any wine related topics on my tours. To me every corner tells a story about the past and every street leads somewhere worth exploring. I would love to show you the true face of Budapest and this country and also give you an insight into the daily life here. What can you expect on my tours? I like to have fun and like it when those around me are also having a great time. I am very sociable and during my tours we will sometimes meet and chat with locals. We can also discuss authentic and contemporary issues, matters of daily life and anything else that you would like to know. **** Media appearances: I took part in filming for the BBC 'The One Show' - we filmed an insert for the show in Budapest, I was the guide of the film crew and also appeared on screen Cooperation on the American Airlines On Flight Magazine - Budapest edition I was also the lucky guide of Matt Long, publisher of Landlopers, you can read his article here: https://landlopers.com/2015/01/11/touring-with-local **** ALL MY TOURS ARE FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE! I am very flexible about our itinerary so it is not a problem if you want to change the schedule. I am well aware that your time here is precious and I would like to make sure that your tour is full, interesting, engaging, fun, and informative. We can travel via public transport, walk or I can arrange a first class van or minibus. Just contact me and I can customize the tour to meet your needs. So my tour ideas are rather recommendations, feel free to ask for any specials. I very much look forward to hearing from you and making sure your time in Hungary is special and memorable. Licensed guide in English - Hungarian Trade Licensing Office Dohany street Great Synagogue - certified and licenced guide License for the Esztergom Bazilika and Treasury History Teacher BA degree Grand Circle Program Director Training WSET basic level certificate in Hungarian wines I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding, the only exception is the Hungarian Parliament and the Opera house where they have their own guides and organize their own tours

Overview of your Budapest tour

Discover the charms of Szentendre: A Hungarian village where history and art converge I recommend this tour to art lovers, shoppers or anyone, who likes quaint places and want to further explore Hungary outside Budapest. Szentendre's unique character was shaped by various cultures, including Serbs, who settled here in the 18th century, leaving behind their mark in the form of charming architecture and traditions. We will find here baroque architecture with cobblestone streets, vibrant galleries, Hungarian folklore stores and many more. From its quaint architecture to the lively Danube promenade, Szentendre is a picturesque escape which can be a great addition to your capital visit.

We had a great day with Melinda! From the start she was incredibly helpful coordinating our day. We were coming from Vienna and had arranged a car tour which would stop at some of the same places as her usual Danube Bend tour agenda. To add to that my husband has mobility issues so we needed to consider places where he could comfortably stay while we took on more walking and steps. She provided us with several alternative agendas and we crafted a day that worked very well for us. All this was done weeks in advance of our arrival. But most importantly she was a marvelous tour guide! Personable and informative in a conversational way, she showed us hidden spots and spoke about the area with her own personal anecdotes. This was our fourth day in Budapest so we were looking for insights beyond the historical and geographic basics, and she delivered exactly as we had hoped. There were no questions she couldn’t answer. Her experience shone through, and we had fun going to shops and unique sites that were her personal favorites—unique places that we would not have found on our own. She is a popular guide so be sure to book early!

Start with the key words: Micro Art Museum! Szentendre is and incredible hidden gem and Melinda is a wonderful guide. She picked us up in a nice Mercedes van with a private driver for the 35 minute drive from Budapest. We passed and talked about two Roman ruins on the drive up, but didn't stop to tour them. That's a good thing because Szentendre really needs more than a 3-hour visit. It is a quaint village of cobblestone streets full of shops, museums, and churches. It is a one-stop town for all souvenirs, from tourist trinkets to local crafts, art, clothing, and food. The Marzipan Museum has massive incredible sculptures entirely from marzipan. like a 6 ft long 90 pound parliament building. The Margit Kovács Ceramic Museum has her lifetime of sculptures and paintings. The must-see, jaw-dropping, display is the Micro Art Museum. Imagine an entire chess board sitting on the head of a pin. A solid gold camel train with pyramid and palm tree inside the eye of a needle. Even an entire bird family in their nest which is a half of a poppy seed. Let Melinda customize your tour and have a fantastic day!

Szentendre is a charming, scenic town and a nice alternative to the busy city life. The half-day time frame was ideal. Melinda orchestrated everything perfectly, gave us information we wanted to know, took us to interesting places we wouldn't have found, and even pointed us to the best paprika and marzipan. Martin, the driver, also speaks good English and added to the conversation. We had a great day.

Highly recommend this tour with Melinda! Melinda is a terrific guide with so much depth, breadth and knowledge. She offers the perfect mix of giving information and allowing time to absorb and explore. This tour of Szentendre was fascinating, beautiful and interesting all thanks to Melinda's choices about where we went and what we did (customized for us). Brilliantly done! We've already recommended this tour and Melinda to others.

Melinda & her driver picked us up promptly at 1pm and drove us to Szentendre -- a winding cobblestone village of galleries, food, music & churches. Melinda is a treasure trove of information -- architecture, literature, music, art, geography, language, but mostly the heart rendering & poignant history of her lovely country. She arranged for us to take a tour boat back to Budapest (a peaceful hour ride). We are forever fans of Hungary & its gem, Budapest, because her. Thank you, Melinda!

Really great tour with Melinda today. Thank you!

Your Budapest tour itinerary

- We will discover the narrow cobbled streets and the promenade by the Danube comfortably walking. Then we visit some of the old churches and walk up to a point where you can see most of the church towers. We have 10 of them here! There are some interesting museums to visit: - Museum of Micro Arts - Kovacs Margit Museum for ceramic arts, - Marzipan Museum, - Orthodox Serbian Church Museum - Ferenczy Art Museum - Skanzen Open Air Museum, a historic village with many original buildings and objects representing Hungarian architecture and culture from the end of the 18th century to the middle of the 20th century. We can also taste langos and palacsinta, go shopping or just linger over a coffee at the main square. An option in the summer is to go back to Budapest by boat. The tour can easily be extended by adding one or two more hours if you wish. Don't hesitate to contact me for customized options!
