Overview of your Budapest tour
Beyond the border of Budapest, there's wonderful landscape, peaceful nature and last but not least delicious wine. Hungary all together has 22 different wine areas in 6 big wine region. On this tour we visit Upper-Hungary's wine region, more specifically Eger, this lovely town with a rich history from the Middle Ages and with the best Hungarian wines, included the world-wide famous Bull's Blood. Growing up near to a wine region at Lake Balaton, the Hungarian wine tradition has always been an important part of my life. My grandfather prepared infamously sour wine, but for me, wine was about hiding behind the grapevines and help during the harvest every autumn. Even though Eger is another wine region, it brings me awesome memories about the time with my family at the vineyard, moreover the whole area is a huge living history book about my personal favorite era, the Middle Ages with important chapters of the Ottoman times in Hungary. Let's study, drink and eat "Eger" with me!
Your Budapest tour itinerary
- Pick up at your hotel or wherever we agree before. The car ride takes around 1, 5 hour. - First we visit Eger's Old town area. - The next destination is the interior visit of Eger Castle with the history of Ottoman influence in Hungary. - Afterwards we visit inside the Eger Basilica, Hungary's third biggest cathedral. - For lunch we stop at Bolyki cellar where we can taste Eger's new superstar (literally) the Eger Star wine with a nice lunch. - On the second part we wonder around Szépasszonyvölgy, or Fair Lady Valley in English where we can find most of Eger's cellars after each other, and we visit one more cellar to taste the famous Bull's Blood and more. - Finally we go back to Budapest (cca. 1, 5 hour). - The tour is customizable!
