Roman Ruins Tour in Budapest

What a treat to have Katalin as our guide when we visited the Roman Ruins in Budapest last month! She was incredibly knowledgeable and really made the site come alive for us. She knew that my husband would need some accommodation for not being able to walk very long distances or stand for excessive amounts of time. She was thoughtful as we moved through the ruins and always found a bench or a stool when we needed one. Seeing these extensive ruins may not be at the top of your list when you visit Budapest -- but I would encourage you to reconsider and think about making a visit. There is so much to learn and wonder about. And on top of that, think about contacting Katalin to be your tour guide. She made this visit one of the highlights of our time in the city.

The largest Roman ruins I’ve been to out of Italy! Well presented by the facility, with a nice little museum. Cathy was knowledgeable and fun and very flexible about getting my husband to everything but letting me take less strenuous paths. She then recommended a lovely place for lunch, and when we pressed her to join us we had a delightful conversation over the food.

Katalin was extremely knowledgeable. She did an excellent job, pacing the tour, both to our interests and abilities. Additionally she gave us a great deal of local information on sites and things we might do while we’re staying in Budapest the next several weeks. Aquincum is best appreciated with a private guide. Highly recommend.

Katalin met us in our hotel and took us by driver to the Roman ruin, Aquincum. She spoke excellent English and when showing us around the ruins, made the Roman site come alive. We felt like we were walking down the Roman street with the chariots making their mark. We can highly recommend her.

Our tour of Aquincum was one of the best guided tours I've ever experienced. Daniel, our guide, was very knowledgeable about Roman life, the town of Aquincum, the excavations, and museum and lapidary artifacts. He answered questions, he helped us see and figure out what we were looking at and how things worked. The town itself allows you to see and experience walking through an ancient Roman town, and along with the artists' renditions Daniel showed us along the way really brought the town to life.

Watch out Pompeii, Buda has Aquincumi! Katalin was on time, professional, friendly, kind, and very knowledgeable about the history of Budapest, and of course she knew all about the Roman ruins. We really enjoyed this outing immensely, and we learned a lot about history, archeology, engineering, and the daily life of the ancients, and even some about the modern era. Our family says thumbs up! ��
