This theme tour gives you an insight into the history of Hungary while we were part of the Soviet block. How was life in the 'most merry barrack' of communist Eastern Europe? What was behind the Uprise of 1956? Why Ronald Reagan's statue stands both next to US Embassy and the Soviet War Memorial in Budapest? I give you a perfect overview of the history of Hungary during the communist era. As I personally experienced those times, though being just a kid, can spice the history with my personal memories. Tour is effected by comfortable vehicle, with stops at the most significant places and monument survived the communist era of Hungary. THIS IS A PRIVATE TOUR, WHEN YOU ARE LESS, THEN 6 PERSON, ASK FOR CUSTOMIZED TOUR!
The best start of the tour is Memento Park, where I show you all the all the famed statues of the communist era - which were not melted in - , including: the "Stalin's boots", a funny relique, the iconic car, Trabant. Some short movies and photo exhibition recall the era's terror, and gives an overview of the dark 50's in Hungary. - We stop at Corvin-köz, the place witnessed the hardest fights between invading Russian troops and Hungarians during the Uprise of 1956. The place is famous for the statue dedicated to children between 12 and 16, who desperately and heroically defended their homeland's freedom and sacrificed even their lifes for it.- You can visit the newly opened Budapest Retro Museum, or travel on the Children's Railway. Tour is closed at the Terror House Budapest.
